How can you break the negative cycle of self-criticism and stop internalizing our negative emotions in a healthy way? I hope our group exercise below will help you and your friends  better understand this topic Sincerely thank ! BODY PARAGRAPH I What is body shaming1? Body shaming is the act of making someone feel bad about their body, whether it is how they look or how they feel about their body It can be done indirectly by making a comment about another person's weight or  appearance, or it can be done directly by insulting someone's appearance or  making negative comments about their weight It is not only hurtful to the  person being shamed but also to those who witness it happening It's often associated with bullying, but it isn't always—sometimes it's just a mean comment made by someone who doesn't know how to be kind  Body Shaming What It Is & How To Overcome It | ANAD (2022) Retrieved 11 June 2022, from https://anad.org/get-informed/body-image/body-image-articles/body-shaming/    Body shaming can have serious consequences for the people being shamed It can lead to low self-esteem, poor body image, and even eating disorders like bulimia or anorexia It also affects how we see other people: if you've  been body shamed yourself, it might be hard to see others as whole human  beings with feelings and needs when they're not perfect in your eyes II Body shaming among the young Vietnamese today Actual body shaming  About 40,200,000 results within 0.45 seconds are what I can see when I search Google and type the keyword "Body shaming" Body shaming takes place in many countries, including Vietnam And now, this problem appears every day in life and especially on social networks Surveying a part of young people using social networks understanding about Body shaming issues To better understand this issue, I organized a small survey for seventeen people, teenagers born between 1998 and 2005 who used Social  Networks about Body shaming on social networks With seventeen survey  participants, 83.3% of people have at least heard of the phrase Body shaming and understand body shaming There are 16.7% of people who have never  known about body shaming When I asked, “Have you ever been BodyShamed?” 8% of people surveyed chose "a lot of times", 75% of people chose "yes", and 16.7% of people have never been subjected to body shaming We conclude that the phrase body-shaming is common among young people today Surely all of us have experienced body shaming, at least a few times, or maybe every day In particular, Showbiz is where artists suffer the most from body   shaming, not by an individual but also by community effects 2According to the statistics of Bully Statistics, up to 94% of women and 84% of men are affected  by the problem of body shaming In addition, more than 60% of adults are "shy" about their appearance Common forms of Body shaming  The defects in appearance have had an impact on the formation of an individual's consciousness: These are disparaging, negative comments to others, and self-deprecating There are two forms of Body shaming that are common among young people today: Firstly, body shaming others: Mainly criticizing fat, skinny, short, acne skin, and dark-skinned bodies, This is a common and everyday form among young  people, especially girls Secondly, ody shaming themselves: Those are people who are conscientious and dissatisfied with their appearance, often comparing themselves to others Causes of body shaming  The direct cause of body shaming: Every country has its beauty standards, and so does Vietnam Stemming from an old tradition, they set requirements such as an oval face, willow-leafm eyebrows, dove eyes, shiny black hair, etc That's why anyone can be willing to criticize if it doesn't fit the standard  Fat Shaming and Body Shaming - Bullying Statistics (2017) Retrieved 11 June 2022, from http://www.bullyingstatistics.org/content/fat-shaming-and-body-shaming.html     Indirect causes of body shaming: In the era of technology 4.0, the development of social networks creates an open environment and countless positive things that it brings However, it is impossible not to mention the negative side, the disparaging words appear  rampant due to the crowd effect, and everyone mocks the same person, seeing it as a funny joke III How to Break the Negative Cycle of Self-Criticism and Stop Internalizing Our Negative Emotions in a Healthy Way Body shaming is a big problem It's a big enough problem that it has its own term, and we're all too familiar with the negative effects it can have on someone's self esteem People have different body types for a reason—some  people are naturally "bigger" and others naturally "smaller," but body shaming comes into play when someone believes one body type is better than the other According to recent research by celebrity fitness expert and trainer Autumn Calabrese, in Americans regularly experiences some type of body shaming What's worse, the same study found that only 9% of people who were bullied actually sought help from a professional Those are some pretty disturbing statistics But another even more disturbing statistic is that in Americans is or is currently struggling with not only body shame but also an eating disorder According to recent studies from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), women are more likely to feel body shame and engage in destructive  behaviors, like eating disorders and self-harm itself can lead to poor body   image However, studies have shown that men also suffer from negative body image and low self-esteem3 We grew up in a society where thin is considered the ideal and thin means  beautiful and healthy, so we start to believe that when we are young (and some  people never waver this) The media tells us what beauty looks like, and it's often the skinny models or actresses who have had to go through extremely severe weight loss for their profession And you are flooded with images of  what you should look like: your hair, your weight, the color of your skin And if  you don't fit the mold? Then you are fat, ugly and will not find love or  happiness But here's the thing: you're not fat You are not bad And you will find love and happiness — if only you could stop internalizing all this negativity! In this article, we'll learn about the cycle of negative self-criticism that many women fall into, and how to stop harboring negative emotions in a healthy way so we can finally begin to see ourselves clearly You've probably heard it  before: “Don’t let other people’s opinions of you ruin your day.” But how exactly you go about doing that? How can you break the negative cycle of  self-criticism and stop internalizing our negative emotions in a healthy way? I have the answer for you And it all starts with understanding what body shaming is, and how it affects us It's time to stop harboring negative emotions in a healthy way  Low Self-Esteem and Negative Body Image in Teens - Shepherd's Hill Academy (2022) Retrieved 11  June 2022, from https://www.shepherdshillacademy.org/common-teen-issues/low-self-esteem-andnegative-body-image-in-teens/   How to Deal With Body-Shaming?
