the IEC 60870-5-1 04 companion standard Scope Th is part of I EC 60870, which is a technical speci ficati on , describes test cases for formance testi ng of telecon trol equ ipmen t, Su bstation Au tomation Systems (SAS) an d telecon trol systems, inclu din g front-end fu nctions of SCADA, u sin g th e I EC 60870-5-1 04 compan ion standard and I EC 60870-5-6, Guidelines for conformance testing for the IEC 60870-5 companion standards The u se of this part of I EC 60870 facili tates in teroperabil ity by provi ding a standard m eth od of testin g protocol i mplementations, bu t i t does not g u aran tee i n teroperability of devices I t is expected th at u sin g this specification du ring testin g will m in im ize th e ri sk of non in teroperability The g oal of th is part of I EC 60870 is to en able un ambi gu ous an d standardised evalu ation of I EC 60870-5 com pan ion standard protocol i mplemen tations Th e g u idelines and diti ons for th e testing en vironment are described in I EC 60870-5-6 Th e detai led test cases per companion standard, taini ng among others m an datory an d opti onal m andatory test cases per Basic Appl ication Fu nction , ASDU and transm ission procedu re, wi ll become avail able as a techn ical specification Other fu nctionali ty may n eed addi tion al test cases bu t this is ou tside th e scope of this part of I EC 60870 For proper testing , it is Tables to 26 Procedu ral and fu ncti onal testin g shall always start with th e Station I ni tialisati on fu nction and proceeds wi th the next Basic Appl ication Fu nctions Th e procedure in each test case shall be followed, which means that th e DU T is abl e to fu ncti on as described in th e speci fic test case The test procedu res in Tables th rou gh 1 shal l be carried ou t wi th no errors detected du ri ng testing of al l the Basic Application Fu nctions in Tables throug h 26 Th ese tests are preferabl y au tom atical ly performed by th e used test pl atform I n addi tion to the
