1050 Brussels © 2005 CENELEC - All rights of exploitation in any form and by any means reserved worldwide for CENELEC members Ref No EN 60684-3-216:2005 E BS EN 60684-3-216:2005+A2:2014 EN 60684-3-216:2005+A2:2014 (E) – ii – Foreword The texts of documents 15C/1140/FDIS and 15C/1664/FDIS, future edition of IEC 60684-3-216 and its amendment 1, prepared by SC 15C, Specifications, of IEC TC 15, Insulating materials, were submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and were approved by CENELEC as EN 60684-3-216 on 2005-04-12 The following dates were fixed: – latest date by which the EN has to be implemented at national level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2006-02-01 – latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the EN have to be withdrawn (dow) 2008-04-01 Annex ZA has been added by CENELEC Endorsement notice The text of the International Standard IEC 60684-3-216:2001 + corrigendum 1:2003 + A1:2005 was approved by CENELEC as a European Standard without any modification Foreword to amendment A2 The text of document 15/685/CDV, future IEC 60684-3-216:2001/A2, prepared by IEC/TC 15 "Solid electrical insulating materials" was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and approved by CENELEC as EN 60684-3-216:2005/A2:2014 The following dates are fixed: • latest date by which the document has to be implemented at national level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2014-10-16 • latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the document have to be withdrawn (dow) 2017-01-16 Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights CENELEC [and/or CEN] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights Endorsement notice The text of the International Standard IEC 60684-3-216:2001/A2:2013 was approved by CENELEC as a European Standard without any modification BS EN 60684-3-216:2005+A2:2014 IEC 60684-3-216:2005+A2:2014 INTRODUCTION This International Standard is one of a series which deals with flexible insulating sleeving for electrical purposes The series consists of three parts: Part 1: Definitions and general requirements (IEC 60684-1); Part 2: Methods of test (IEC 60684-2); Part 3: Specifications for individual types of sleeving (IEC 60684-3) This standard is one of the sheets comprising Part BS EN 60684-3-216:2005+A2:2014 IEC 60684-3-216:2005+A2:2014 FLEXIBLE INSULATING SLEEVING – Part 3: Specifications for individual types of sleeving – Sheet 216: Heat-shrinkable, flame-retarded, limited-fire-hazard sleeving Scope This sheet of IEC 60684-3 gives the requirements for four types of heat-shrinkable, flameretarded, limited-fire-hazard sleeving with a thermal endurance rating of 105 qC as shown below: Class A: thin wall shrink ratio 2:1 internal diameter up to 102,0 mm Class B: medium wall shrink ratio 2:1 internal diameter up to 60,0 mm Class C: thick wall shrink ratio 2:1 internal diameter up to 51,0 mm Class D: medium wall shrink ratio 3:1 internal diameter up to 40,0 mm These sleevings are normally supplied in the following colours: black, red, green, blue, white, yellow and green/yellow Sizes or colours other than those listed in this standard may be available as custom items These items shall be considered to comply with this standard if they comply with the property requirements listed in tables 5, 6, and 8, excluding dimensions and mass Materials which conform to this specification meet established levels of performance However, the selection of a material by a user for a specific application should be based on the actual requirements necessary for adequate performance in that application and not based on this specification alone Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document For dated references, only the edition cited applies For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies IEC 60684-1:1980, Specification for flexible insulating sleeving – Part 1: Definitions and general requirements IEC 60684-2:1997, Flexible insulating sleeving – Part 2: Methods of test IEC 60757:1983, Code for designation of colours ISO 846:1997, Plastics – Evaluation of the action of micro-organisms ISO 1817:1999, Rubber, vulcanized – Determination of the effect of liquids (available in English only) BS EN 60684-3-216:2005+A2:2014 IEC 60684-3-216:2005+A2:2014 Designation This sleeving shall be identified by the following designation: Sleeving -
