motorbikes in the world and stands next to India,China and Indonesia A motorcycle, often known as a motorbike or cycle, is a twowheeled motor vehicle that may be used for a variety of reasons such as long-distance transport, commuting, or recreation such as racing Because of its convenience, motorbikes still occupy a dominant position in the choice of consumers There is a statistically shown that two-wheeler market sales to about millions of motorbikes annually in the past decade (Thuong Tam, 2021) The sales volume of VAMM is equal to the average market consumption of 8,123 cars per day As a result, around motorcycles are sold in Vietnam every minute On January 14 announced that the sales of the whole year 2020 will reach a total of 2,712,615 vehicles, a decrease of 16.66% compared to 2019 According to experts of Motorcycles Data(dantri.com.vn, 2019), the Vietnamese motorcycle market would decrease by nearly 17% in 2020, partly due to the impact of the prolonged COVID-19 epidemic and the Vietnamese motorcycle market has entered a saturated period Nevertheless, Vietnam is predicted to become the third largest producer of motorcycles in the world while neighbouring countries like China are increasingly using this means of transport For everyone in general and for students in particular, a motorcycle is a convenient means of transport relatively suitable in price and form In recent years, the Vietnamese motorcycle market has undergone major changes Realizing that the demand for motorbikes of people is very great, many motorcycle companies have entered into a joint venture with Viet Nam to set up production plants such as Suzuki, Yamaha, and Honda Besides, in the last years Vietnamese motorbikes market more and more variety due to the fact that many China motorcycle brands are imported and produced widely Understanding consumer behaviour in the present scenario is extremely important as it is no longer a simple task.Viet Nam consumers can now freely choose motorcycles according to their preferences Additionally, when deciding to buy a motorbike, consumers need to consider not only the price, color, service, but also the brand and type of motorcycle Discuss the importance as well as to study more deeply about consumer’s preference in choosing type of motorcycle Heterogeneity among people makes understanding consumer behavior a challenge tasks for marketers Hence, marketers feel the need to acquire in-depth knowledge of consumer buying behavior Ultimately, this knowledge acts as a must-have tool in hand of The preference towards types of motorbikes among 19-year-old students of both genders in ISBA marketers to forecast consumer future buying behavior and deliver marketing strategy to create long-term relationships with consumers. This study specifies more about customer’s preference toward to types of motorbike especially customers as university students especially those in ISB where Ii am currently studying For this reason, this study is conducted to answer these following questions: ‘’What are the types of motorbike that students like the most?”; “What are the most favourite brands?”; “What are the influencing factors affecting the students’ preference towards motorbikes?” Furthermore, there will be suggestions for increasing the frequency of responding to the needs of target consumers 2.Literature review In general, the choice of buying a motorbike depends on the student's buying preference such as choosing based on motorcycle brand, design, or maintenance service by some previous studies Bhandari (2004) conducted research on "Brand preference analysis on motorbikes with reference to Kathmandu city "The study focused extensively on primary data The motorcycle was a research product The sample was taken in Kathmandu The sample consisted of 120 motorbike riders in Kathmandu The study focused on defining the profiles of specific brand customers, evaluating the product attributes sought in the motorcycle brand, and analyzing the customers' perspective on brand preference Hero Honda was found to be the most favorite brand, with Yamaha taking second. In the company category, Hero Honda has been the most famous by profession Moreover, It was discovered that brand loyalty exists among motorcycle purchasers The price factor has been identified as the most important factor in brand switching Hero Honda has a positive reputation in terms of power performance, resale value, and cosmetic appearance Other research by Shalini and Sundararajan (2012) showed that 67 of the 100 sample respondents were working women, 37 were housewives, and the remaining 45 were students in schools and colleges Brand selection is influenced by a variety of factors According to consumer responses, 33% of respondents favored brand status as an important factor affecting brand choice, 24% favored price as an important factor, and 18% favored mileage as an important factor, 14% of respondents chose low maintenance costs, while the remaining 10% valued after-sales service as a key factor in brand choice In the same it is discovered that current fashion/style pattern is one of the major reasons in choosing the particular brand of two-wheelers followed by other factors such as salesman persuasion – 13%, group impact – The preference towards types of motorbikes among 19-year-old students of both genders in ISBA 20%, family members opinion – 16%, and recommendations by technicians – 21% According to the findings of the report, women consumers prioritize current fashion/style trends. Cherry (2007) investigated "Electric Bikes in China and their Impacts on Environmental Protection, Mobility, and Accessibility." Electric bikes, according to the research, provide a cost-effective, pleasant, and reasonably energy-efficient means of transportation in China, and they have become one of the most popular modes of transportation among the Chinese people This study looked at the environmental efficiency of e-bikes in comparison to other competitive types, their market potential, and the feasibility of alternative battery technologies, and came to the conclusion that the market in China is still in its early stages, with a lot of room for electric vehicles Yuvaraju and Rao (2014) conducted a survey on “Customer Satisfaction towards Honda Two Wheelers: A Case Study in Tirupati” with the primary goal of determining customer satisfaction levels with Honda bike servicers They concluded that all of the respondents are familiar with the company Honda 60% of customers know the brand because of the media 90% are fully satisfied with the mileage and efficiency of the bike, 73% are satisfied with pick up, 56% choose Honda because of quality service, 50% are satisfied with the design, and 54% believe the bike's price is high They came to the conclusion that price, mileage, pickup, and design all have a major influence Praveen and Revathi (2017) showed that the price motivates 16% of respondents, fuel efficiency motivates 11%, product quality motivates 9%, gearless transmission motivates 5%, exchange offer motivates 5%, installment payment facility motivates 7%, and comfort motivates 6%, 5% are motivated by certainty, and 4% are motivated by the least amount of problems Performance and design, After-sales operation, smooth suspension, and brand value are all motivating factors for 6%, 2%, 13%, and 11% of total respondents, respectively To entice customers, suppliers and retailers now give discounts and freebies As a result, customers were asked to specify what kind of facilities they want from the dealer/manufacturer Consumer responses reveal that 15.0 percent expect a discount, 58.0 percent expect improved service, 19.0 percent expect a fair delivery period, and 8.0 percent expect additional features As a result, the overwhelming majority of respondents anticipate improved service The preference towards types of motorbikes among 19-year-old students of both genders in ISBA In general, the research papers have focused on the main purpose, but there are still many limitations to apply to this study Firstly, the study by Bhandari concentrated on specific brand customers, evaluating the product and analyzing the customers' perspectives on brand preference but it did not mention which age and specific objects Secondly, research by Shalini and Sundararajan showed that choosing the particular brand of two-wheelers influenced by a variety of factors but it did not mention what creates those elements Moreover, Praveen and Revathi’s research showed that the price motivates but did not mention the price they want and accept to buy a motorbike.Taking into account that people have preferences in mind before purchasing a motorcycle, the researcher has attempted to summarize some of the variables that people consider before making a purchase So, in my assignment I will research “Which type of motorcycle is your favorite and interested in?’’ ; ‘’What factors determine your motorcycle purchase?’’; ‘’which motorcycle brand occupies the most position in the Vietnamese market?’’ 3.Method As the project aimed to point out the preference toward the type of motorcycle among ISBA at age 19, the research was conducted to find out the answers to three main research questions A mixed-method methodology was used in the study, which included and used both quantitative and qualitative data In reality, this mixed-method approach was well suited to the research of preference toward the type of motorcycle among students because it collected data in a more detailed and in-depth process The qualitative approach, in particular, aided students in presenting their viewpoints about their favorite and satisfaction when choosing a motorbike Quantitative methods, on the other hand, gathered information on the frequency of using motorbikes by students. The data used in this research were acquired from a questionnaire consisting of questions, which was designed to provide answers to the three main research questions of this study Looking at the details, it had multiple-choice questions, open-ended questions, partially closed question,1 scaled question While the multiple-choice questions had alternatives to help students answer immediately, the remaining types of questions required students to freely express their ideas and assess their level of satisfaction when riding a motorcycle This approach was carried out on a broad scale, and students received information swiftly and efficiently Furthermore, this questionnaire was simple to complete and familiar to students, while yielding very accurate findings 10 The preference towards types of motorbikes among 19-year-old students of both genders in ISBA The data used in this study obtained from the Banking Academy This research was obtained through a survey and will gather information from students, specially ISBA at age 19, in order to gain the most accurate data The first step was to construct a questionnaire to address the three primary questions of this research study The survey was then sent to approximately 250 freshmen students at random The researcher then collected surveys from these selected freshmen Thereafter, the data were synthesized and analyzed to serve the research paper, thereby demonstrating the views of the freshmen on the use of ATM cards 4.Results The participants of the project were 200 students at age 19 in ISBA As expected, the results successfully reflect specific the preference type of motorbike chosen by students including favourite type, favourite brand , reason why they like it and factors determine them like that kind of motorbike Figure 1: Students’ favourite type of motorbike It is also noticeable that most responses were chosen by motorcycle which accounts for 42,6% in general Following that is the scooter about 30,2% of students like this type of motorbike Meanwhile, the number of students who choose both motorcycle and scooter also accounts for a significant part of about 27,2% Figure 2: Students’ most favourite motorcycle manufacturers 11 The preference towards types of motorbikes among 19-year-old students of both genders in ISBA In term of most favourite motorcycle manufacturers, preference for Yamaha and Honda motorcycles made up the majority of the chart, which were 30,2% for the former and 28,7% for the latter.Afterwards, Students' interest in other motorcycles decreases with each model such as Piaggio was 15,3%, Kawasaki was 12,4 and SYM was 11,9 Suzuki is the favorite with the 2nd lowest votes which is 1% and the last one is Ducati Figure 3: Reasons for students’ preference towards the favourite manufactures Most responses showed that students were more attracted by the fashionable, diverse, personal models accounted for 57,9% Meanwhile, students preference quite high such as for 12 The preference towards types of motorbikes among 19-year-old students of both genders in ISBA spare parts was 45,5%, energy saving was 43,1%, or good business and marketing strategy was 40,6%.Then, students' interest gradually decreased in characteristics respectively attractive 36,1%,big displacement and durable were to 34,7%, large storage and many agents about 32%, and following that were long standing habits of consumers 26,7%, low price was 24,3%.Cool and beautiful utilities were lowest voted accounted for both 0,5% Figure 4: Factors determining students’ motorbike purchase As is shown , most of influence to students purchased motorbike was from price at 42,6% After that the influence of displacement/fuel tank with 39,1 more than other such as family with 37,1%, models and spare parts were at the same vote 36,6%, and then was studentself with 35,1%.Friend influence and reliability were not highly chosen by student, which 33,2% for the former and 28,7% for the latter.Last one was storage compartment with 20,8% voted by students at age 19 in ISBA Figure 5: Motorcycle companies dominating the motorcycle market in Vietnam 13 The preference towards types of motorbikes among 19-year-old students of both genders in ISBA In general, pie chart showed that most of responses of students was chosen Yamaha company dominated motorcycle market in Viet Nam which was 37,6%.Besides, Honda came in second place with was 35,1% voted.Following that was Kawasaki on the third place 9,9% voted by students while Piaggio take up a percentage close to Kawasaki at 9.4%.SYM has an insignificant vote of about 7.4% and in the end Ducati has the lowest vote of only 0.5% 5.Discussion of findings The study, like other studies, has limitations, including the difficulty to answer questions from various viewpoints of university students' preferences for type of motorcycle The statistics acquired were gathered in a somewhat narrow scope because the participants came from a single university in a specific group Nevertheless, the research was able to draw conclusions from the collected data due to the diversity of perspectives of students from various social backgrounds 5.1.The most favourite type of motorbike When asked, students from ISBA in both genders shared a similar proportion of favourite type of motorbike, in which most students chose motorcycles at 42.6% while the preference toward scooter was less than motorcycles at 30.2% This proves that the preference of motorcycle is much more dominant than scooters, although the number of people who choose to prefer both types of vehicles is high Motorcycle qualities linked to satisfaction fulfillment and consumer demands must be accurately understood by manufacturers Motorcycles were much more mature, following fashion and trends, and most importantly, the product should be tailored to the demands and requirements of its consumers Among the features of motorcycle goods that many customers evaluate is the type of motorbikes According to rideapart, motorcycles are enjoyable to ride. Those who own 14 The preference towards types of motorbikes among 19-year-old students of both genders in ISBA motorcycles proclaim to the world they live their life large, fear makes them giggle and they are daredevils According to Kass (2016), motorcycles provide a more liberated way to enjoy the great outdoors Although rain and wind might be a hindrance, motorcycle riders have plenty of opportunity to catch some fresh air Riding a motorcycle gives an unrivaled sense of liberation 5.2.The most favourite brand In fact, people want to know all of the qualities of each product brand before making a purchase choice Buyers examine and assess the qualities of each product, attempting to match them with the desired product and selecting the greatest fit The customer is the only one who makes the decision to purchase a specific brand According to figure 2, the answers for what the most favourite brand of motorbike was occupy the most trend in Yamaha motorcycles In general, the pie chart revealed that the Yamaha firm dominated the motorbike market in Vietnam, accounting for 37.6 percent of all replies According to RX Riders Place (2021), Yamaha has fewer sophisticated technology, although this is not always the case because it is largely influenced by the type of motorbike owned Yamaha's benefits included more attractive bikes in terms of design and manufacturing, better for racing, greater maneuverability, more fun to ride, and often requiring less maintenance (not in all cases) In my perspective, Yamaha also delivered better build and design, resulting in much more gorgeous motorcycles Yamaha had a significant advantage in terms of maneuverability and ability to deal with obstacles, which was far superior to any other model Moreover, Yamaha motorcycles were far more exciting and enjoyable to ride than any other model Furthermore, Honda placed in second position with 35.1 percent of the votes In the same research of RX Riders Place, Honda was, without a doubt, one of the best and most amazing motorcycle companies The desire and ability to produce the best and most advanced performers in the market year after year was unquestionably unique to Honda Honda improved significantly each year in terms of engine, acceleration, and braking systems, and, of course, Honda's engine outperformed Yamaha's in terms of mileage 5.3.The decisive factors to preference toward type of motorbike Regarding decisive factors of students' preference toward type of motorbikes, most of the responses were fashionable, diverse, personal models, which can be explained by the fact that this feature strongly influences students' preference by design, colour or appearance According to Krisnanto and Utami (2018), it was very likely that the young age group would not buy motorcycles with a memorable design of parents, or that people who were not young 15 The preference towards types of motorbikes among 19-year-old students of both genders in ISBA but choose a motorcycle with a memorable young age design as a symbol of himself are still included in the young age group From a producer standpoint, in this case motorcycle producers, providing more value on the design side, both as a symbol of quality, age, and gender, is a quandary because it frequently leads to increased production costs on the quality demands of materials used to display a product with designs that have high aesthetic value and lead to the addition of the selling price that tends to place the product with a design. But the factor that had a significant impact on student preference toward motorcycles was price. The respondents' economic levels differ from one another Respondents with low economic position are more likely to want to buy a motorcycle on credit-pay in installments People whose income is set on a monthly basis, such as service holders, or who not have a favorable financial situation As a result, this is one of the influencing elements for buying motorcycles and the decision-making process, which represents people's motorbike purchasing behavior As is shown in figure , most of the influence to students purchasing motorbikes was from price at 42.6%, so that the change in choice to purchase a motorbike would correspond to the change in motorcycle selling price If the selling price was greater, the consumer's degree of contemplation to purchase a motorbike would be higher as well The consideration is typically based on the consumer's purchasing capacity in comparison to the list price of the motorbike given by the dealer 6.Recommendation The following suggestions were provided after analysis of the findings These ideas for improving consumer sentiment were considered very carefully Manufacturers should make every effort to reduce costs, adopt new technologies, meet students wishes, expectations and market success trends. This help many students can buy their favourite motorbikes easier Motorcycles should be comfortable, elegant, fuel efficient, long-term, powerful and economical The finance scheme may be one of the economically vulnerable customers' marketing policies For marketers, they also introduce some good finance or discount schemes for students It also shows that reduced pricing, discounts, competition quality and price value paid were highly important Given the current market situation, these variables should be taken into account while deciding what kind of motorcycle the consumers are to provide This study would enable the Vietnam marketers who sell motorcycles to develop proper strategy for promoting their motorcycle brand to their customers 7.Conclusion 16 The preference towards types of motorbikes among 19-year-old students of both genders in ISBA This study has answered the three questions raised to research the topic of the study and serve the main purpose of the article is to find out about the students' preferences for motorcycles at ISBA The research was able to draw conclusions from the obtained data due to the diversity of viewpoints of students from diverse social backgrounds. It has collected positive feedback about choosing motorbikes according to students' preferences and given the general trend of choosing motorbikes over scooters and the most popular brand is Yamaha next is Honda. Moreover prices of an motorcycle is most influence to student when decide to buy a new one This makes it accessible to future research papers as well as to manufacturers and marketers to develop and improve motorcycle products as well as to in-depth research into young people's preferences make it easy for students to access them The research, like other studies, has limitations, including the inability to answer questions from diverse views of university students' preferences for a kind of motorbike The statistics obtained were gathered in a relatively restricted scope because the participants came from a single university in a specific group. Therefore, the following research groups need to focus on overcoming this point ( 3398 words ) References N.Revathi, M., 2021.
