International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters o f electrotechnical standardization The procedures used to develop this document and those intended for its further maintenance are described in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part In particular the di fferent approval criteria needed for the di fferent types o f ISO documents should be noted This document was dra fted in accordance with the editorial rules o f the ISO/IEC Directives, Part (see www.iso.org/directives) Attention is drawn to the possibility that some o f the elements o f this document may be the subject o f patent rights ISO shall not be held responsible for identi fying any or all such patent rights Details o f any patent rights identified during the development o f the document will be in the Introduction and/or on the ISO list of patent declarations received (see www.iso.org/patents) Any trade name used in this document is in formation given for the convenience o f users and does not constitute an endorsement For an explanation on the meaning o f ISO specific terms and expressions related to formity assessment, as well as in formation about ISO’s adherence to the WTO principles in the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) see the following URL: Foreword - Supplementary in formation The committee responsible for this document is ISO/TC 149, Cycles, Subcommittee SC 1, Cycles and major sub-assemblies This first the wheel suitably as shown in Figure Apply a pre-load o f N on the rim at one spoke perpendicular to the plane of the wheel as shown in Figure Record the zero position of the rim at the point o f load application as shown Then apply a static force o f F given in Table for a duration of Reduce the load to N and allow a settling time After this settling time and with the N load still applied, re-measure the position o f the rim The wheel shall be fitted with the appropriate size tyre and inflated to the maximum inflation pressure In the case o f a rear wheel, apply the force from the sprocket side o f the wheel as shown in Figure Repeat the above measurement once between two spokes See Annex A for fatigue testing © ISO 2014 – All rights reserved ISO 4210-7:2014(E) Table — Forces a period o f in the direction o f the removal o f the front and rear wheel independently 4.4 Greenhouse effect test for composite wheels — Test method A fully assembled wheel, fitted with the appropriate size tyre and inflated according to the lower value between maximum inflation pressure recommended on the rim or the tyre, shall be controlled be fore the test; lateral run-out has to be controlled according to ISO 4210-2:2014, 4.10.1 and maximum widths of the rim have to be reported A specific bench as shown in Figure could be used to measure the maximum width all around the rim with tyre and pressure (continuous measuring) The wheel is laid down on the ground o f a climate chamber, which has been pre-heated at 80 °C, leant on axle and tyre support points, sprocket side o f the wheel, as shown in Figure 4, during h At the end o f h, the wheel should be taken out o f the climate chamber and allowed to cool down at room temperature during h to re-measuring the rim width and tested by the method described in A.1.2 , there should be no fractures, detachments, or visible cracks in any part o f the wheel, no loss o f air pressure in the tyre due to damage from the wheel to the tyre or the inner tube (when fitted), and the undamaged tyre should remain on the rim A.1.2 Test method Assemble the wheel, tyre, and inner tube (when fitted) and inflate the tyre to 90 % o f the maximum inflation pressure Mount the wheel/tyre assembly free to rotate on its axle, and free to move in a vertical direction Load the wheel assembly by means o f dead weights against a drum equipped with equally spaced, transverse, metallic slats such that the radial force applied to the wheel/tyre assembly is 640 N The wheel and drum axes shall be vertically aligned An example of a test arrangement is shown in Figure A.1 , in which the wheel axle is fixed between the free ends o f a pair o f pivoted arms that extend horizontally with the tyre contacting the drum between the slats The diameter o f the drum shall be in the range o f 500 mm to 000 mm, and the slats shall have a width o f 50 mm ± 2,5 mm, a thickness o f 10 mm ± 0,25 mm, and 45° cham fered edges o f hal f their thickness The circumferential spacing between the centrelines of two consecutive slats shall be not less than 400 mm Rotate the drum to give a linear sur face speed o f 25 km/h (±10 %) for a period to provide 750 000 impacts between the tyre and the slats © ISO 2014 – All rights reserved ISO 4210-7:2014(E) Dimensions in millimetres Key h to tal fo rce o n the axle, 40 N height of slats Figure A.1 —
