understand words about nature - pronounce consonant clusters: /sl/ , /sm/ , /sn/ , /sw/ - know how to use relative pronouns with preposition - review and use the relative pronouns II Language content: - Pronunciation: / sl/ , /sm/ , /sn/ , /sw/ - Grammar: relative pronouns with prepositions III Techniques: integrated, mainly communicative approach IV Teaching aids: textbooks, pictures, chalk, power point V Procedure: STAGE / TIME WARM-UP TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES Aim: - Raising students’ interest before coming to the lesson - Leading into the lesson - Getting SS to begin thinking and focusing on English Guessing game: -T gives out pictures and asks Ss to say the name of the activities - T shows the answers, reads the word, and asks Ss to repeat the word STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES - Ss listen to the teacher and play the game - Ss work individually, guess the name of activities, raise a hand and stand up to answer - Ss listen and repeat Definition list: swimming smoking sneezing sleep PRONUNCIATION Aim: knowing how to pronouncing consonant clusters /sl/ , /sm/, /sn/, /sw/ Presenting the clusters: - T writes each of four clusters on the board one by one - T pronounces the sound individually - T lets Ss repeat the sounds in individual then in choral /sl/ slave sleep slim slowly /sm/ small smart smell smoke /sn/ snack sneeze snooker snowy /sw/ swallow Swim swing switch - Ss listen carefully - Ss listen and repeat the sounds individually - Ss repeat the sounds GRAMMAR - RELATIVE PRONOUNS: Aim: reviewing how to use relative pronouns Guessing game: - T shows the screen and asks Ss what relative pronouns will be used in this situation - T asks Ss to fill in the blanks - T revises how to use relative pronouns - Ss listen to T’s instruction - Ss follow T’s instructions - Ss look at the screen and answer the questions - RELATIVE PRONOUNS WITH PREPOSITIONS: Aim: knowing how to write a sentence which has a relative pronoun with a preposition - T gives simple sentences including a preposition and a relative pronoun T asks Ss to rewrite the sentence using relative pronoun T teaches Ss how to write a sentence using relative pronouns with prepositions Ex: She is the girl We talked about her last night - Ss listen carefully, answer T’s questions - Instead of that, we can write: The picture at which she is looking is beautiful T emphasizes note *Note: - Never use this form with the relative pronoun “THAT” Ex: about THAT => WRONG She is the girl about that we talked about last night => WRONG - - Ss work in groups - Ss go to the board to write the answers T revises today’s lesson - CONCLUDE: - There are ways to write: + Preposition + relative pronoun + clause (before relative pronoun) + Preposition after a Verb - Preposition + WHOM WHICH - When preposition comes up at the end of relative clause => we can omit the relative pronoun and can use “That” instead of “Whom & Which” in the defining relative clause - Ss listen carefully - all, most, none, neither, any, either, some, (a) few, both, half, each, one, two, several, many, much, + of whom/which - T asks Ss to take notes - T emphasizes only relative pronouns “WHOM & WHICH” can go with preposition -
