unit 1: Home life Period 1: Reading(P3)  Date: August 22nd  Objectives Educational aim: Students should appreciate their families, know how hard their parents are trying to to bring them up,and be willing to help their Mums and Dads with the household chores Knowledge General knowledge: Students learn about the life of a current family in Vietnam Language: Words and phrases related to home life Skills: Reading for gist and for specific information  Method: Integrated, mainly communicative  Teaching aids: Textbook, posters, handouts  Procedure Teacher's activities I Warm-up (5 min) Game: Help in the home (page 139- Play games with English) - Prepare handouts on which there are pictures of various kinds of housework Ask Ss to work in groups of to tell the daughter in the picture what to do, using imperative sentences (Eg: Please fill the kettlePicture 1) - Call on quickest groups to show their answers on the board The group that has more correct answers will be the winner - Ask Ss to guess what they are going to learn about, then lead to the reading lesson II Before you read(10 min) *Activity 1: Describing the picture - Ask Ss to work in pairs to ask and answer the following questions: Q1: How many people are there in the family? Q2: Where is the family? Q3: What is each member of the family doing? Q4: Is the family happy?
