ROTARY CLUB OF CONCORD SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS, 2020 The Rotary Club of Concord is proud to announce the awarding of scholarships to the following students graduating in 2020 from Concord Carlisle High School; Jeb Morgan (William L Eaton Scholarship) Jeb is excited to be attending the University of Vermont next year, where he plans to study international relations Jeb’s Senior year International Issues class made a big impact on him and confirmed his desire to pursue this topic in college Outside of the classroom, Jeb is an accomplished fencer Jeb captained the Men’s Fencing Team to two state championships, winning Bronze and Gold medals in 2019, and Jeb looks forward to participating in Club Fencing at UVM In addition to the Rotary Scholarship, Jeb received the Concord Lion’s Club Scholarship, the Concord Women’s Club/Ruth Bullerwell Scholarship, the Norman E & Joan M Dee Scholarship, th Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle Scholarship and the Wells A Hale Memorial Scholarship Elsa Couvillon (Thomas R Huckins Scholarship) Elsa, who is planning to attend UCLA, will double-major in Biology and Psychology with a long-term goal of working in biomedical research During her time at CCHS, Elsa has earned distinction both academically and athletically Elsa received Department Awards in Science, Social Studies, World Languages, English, and Math, and she has achieved High Honors for the past three years On the playing field, Elsa has been a captain of the lacrosse team, a midfielder on th e varsity soccer team, and she is the captain and player-coach of the Pink Ladies Futsal Club Elsa is also passionate about sailing, and during her summers she works as an oyster farmer on Cuttyhunk Island where she also does a lot of her sailing In addition to the Thomas R Huckins Rotary Scholarship, she received the Wilson Flight Scholarship and a scholarship from the Concord Firefighter’s Relief Association She also received a MaFLA award for her fellowship in learning Chinese and a Principals’ Award for Excellence in Character Elsa Couvillon Christina Aiello (Captain Thomas J Hudner Jr Scholarship) Christina looks forward to attending the University of Vermont where she will pursue a degree in nursing Christina has earned academic recognition at CCHS, having been on the Honor Roll every year of high school and earning distinction as a member of the National Honor Society and recipient of the National Latin Award in 2017 and 2018 In addition to her academic pursuits, Christina has been the Manager of the Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team and the Girls’ JV Lacrosse Team, and she has already begun to work with health and wellness as a Student Trainer assisting the Athletic Trainer Christina cites her Biology and Anatomy and Physiology classes as inspiring her passion in medicine Christina received many awards during her high school years including the CCHS Achievement Award in Mathematics, the President’s Volunteer Service Award, and the CCJS Community Service Award She attended RYLA In addition to the Rotary Scholarship, she received a scholarship from the Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle, the Charles E Manion Jr Memorial Scholarship, the Elizabeth V McAllister Memorial Scholarship, the Mark Teverosky Memorial Scholarship, the Engel & Volkers Scholarship, the Concord Lions Club Scholarship, the Acton Toyota Scion of Littleton Scholarship, and the Norma Hewey Uraneck Award Christina Aiello Janesse Asare-Danquah (Richard L Hale Scholarship) Janesse, who plans to attend UMass Boston, aspires to work in a healthcare profession and has applied to public health and health sciences programs for college Sociology and Science have been among Janesse’s favorite academic classes Outside of the classroom Janesse has been very involved with athletics at CCHS, where she ran track, played softball, and also managed the winter track team Janesse is also an active member of her church, where she sings in the choir and is part of the dance team She volunteered at Cradles to Crayons, the Franklin Park Zoo and other nonprofits In addition to the Rotary Scholarship, she received the Abby Memorial Scholarship, the Anthony halls- Keenan Smith Scholarship, the Casper C Jenney & Eleanor M Jenney Memorial Scholarship, the Concord Police Relief Association Scholarship, the Maureen Wesinger-Lewis Memorial Scholarship, and the Vinod Jalan Memorial Scholarship Janesse Asare-Danquah Carson Detweiler (Interact Scholarship) Carson will be attending Purdue University to study engineering Carson has participated in many volunteer activities, including working at Gaining Ground and going on mission trips to Navajo Nation Arizona, southern and western Texas, and Puerto Rico He was an Interact member during all four years at CCHS and was President during his senior year He attended Rotary Youth Leadership Awards conference and assisted in numerous Rotary projects, accompanying his grandfather, Past President and Past Carson Detweiler District Governor Douglas Detweiler Carson was also awarded a National Merit Scholarship Madeline Mueller (Interact Scholarship) Madeline will be attending Tufts University where she will enjoy the mix of STEM and liberal arts classes She will concentrate on chemistry and biology with a goal to doing research She also hopes to participate in the choir She was a member of the Interact Club for all four of her high school years, and was an officer in her senior year She attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards conference In addition to volunteering through Interact projects, she enjoyed helping out at the elementary school math nights Madeline was also awarded a National Merit Scholarship, and received an honorable mention award in the library’s Charles Williams Scholarship for Excellence in Music Madeline Mueller
