Journal THE OF THE ARKANSAS INFORMATION MEDICAL FOR SOCIETY AUTHORS Original manuscripts are accepted for consideration on the condition that they are contributed solely to this journal Material appearing in The Journal of the Arkansas Medical Society is protected by copyright Manuscripts may not be reproduced without the written permission of both author and The Journal of the Arkansas Medical Society The Journal of the Arkansas Medical Society reserves the right to edit any material submitted The publishers accept no responsibility for opinions expressed by the contributors All manuscripts should be submitted to Nicole Richards, Managing Editor, at journal@arkmed.org A transmittal letter should accompany the article and should identify one author as the correspondent and include his/her address and telephone number and email address MANUSCRIPT STYLE Author information should include titles, degrees, and any hospital or university appointments of the author(s) All scientific manuscripts must include an abstract of not more than 100 words The abstract is a factual summary of the work and precedes the article Manuscripts should be typewritten, double-spaced and have generous margins Subheads are strongly encouraged Pages should be numbered The article should be submitted by e-mail to journal@arkmed.org Manuscripts are limited to 1700 words and case reports are limited to 1400 words No manuscript or case report that exceeds this amount will be accepted for review REFERENCES References should be limited to 10; if more than 10 are listed, the author(s) may designate the 10 most significant to be printed and readers will be referred to the authors(s) for the complete list References must contain, in the order given: name of author(s), title of article, name of periodicals with volume, page, month and year References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the text Authors are responsible for reference accuracy ILLUSTRATIONS Illustrations should accompany the emailed article in a JPG, TIF, JPG or PDF format; files must be high resolution, at least 300 dpi In photographs in which there is any possibility of personal identification, an acceptable legal release must accompany the material Up to three illustrations, tables, and/or charts will be accepted More than three will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis Each illustration and table must be cited in numerically consecutive order in the text REPRINTS Three copies of the issue containing an author’s manuscript will be mailed after the publication is distributed to subscribing members A PDF is available on request and may be used by the author with permission from The Journal of the Arkansas Medical Society
