well-rounded and successful young adults SADDLEBROOK PREP SCHOOL PROGRAM Saddlebrook’s school was founded in 1993 as a public high school in a business partnership with the School Board of Pasco County In 1997, the school became private and was renamed Saddlebrook Preparatory School Situated in a highly secure gated community of 480 acres with well-supervised residential facilities for students from elementary to high school, the school very quickly began to draw student athletes from all over the world Saddlebrook Prep’s student body comes from more than two dozen countries, forming a multi-cultural learning community that lives, studies and trains at either the Tennis or Golf Academies, while preparing for college Saddlebrook Preparatory School is proud to be accredited by AdvancED and the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS) High-level academics characterize our college preparatory program which attracts student athletes from grades through 12, who are best meets the needs of every student - through individualized programs and progress monitoring SAT/ACT Prep is a one semester elective designed to develop testtaking skills, for the Scholastic Achievement Test (SAT), the College Board’s standardized test on which post-secondary admission is based at many colleges and universities Students are assessed diagnostically at the beginning of the Fall semester and throughout the course Students learn and discuss different tactics that relate to each of the sections, drills in math, reading and writing questions, and take practice tests to activity is to register for the SAT through the guidance counselor An evening tutorial SAT/ACT preparation course is offered in the Spring semester GUIDANCE & COLLEGE PLANNING Goal Achievement Plan (GAP) is an annual planning process that all Saddlebrook Prep students, from 3rd through 12th grade will participate in The Student Planning Coordinator will collaborate with the Guidance Counselor, Athletic Coaching Staff, Parents, Students, and Academic Advisors to identify the academic and athletic potential of each student athlete in their collegiate and professional pursuits The Student Planning Coordinator will work with all stakeholders to develop both short and long term goals for entrance into a variety of colleges and athletic possibilities The GAP’s will be progress monitored throughout the year to ensure that our student’s pursuits and goals are focused on and achieved College Planning is provided through the Guidance Department Our Guidance Counselor meets with students, in the 9th through 12th grades, to ensure that college preparation and planning as well as entrance requirements are met The primary focus of our college planning program will be unique to each student and will satisfy individual needs and goals For many international students, the complexity of the documentation can be daunting, the testing proficiencies challenging, and the language a barrier to understand We facilitate guidance and counseling for our students in order for them to gain admission to the university of their choice This process brings all stakeholders together to players come to Saddlebrook Prep to help advance their goals of playing on the pro tour and receive a Division or NCAA scholarships Players are challenged daily in preparation for competion with other top ranked juniors at national and international ITF and USTA tournaments Our tennis program is uniquely designed to fully integrate a high level college preparatory school with our elite and demanding tennis training schedule The Saddlebrook Tennis system is a comprehensive program that gives student-athletes the opportunity to work on the total game of tennis, including technique, endurance, competition, athletic performance, fitness, and mental conditioning Competitive Environment - Student-athletes train with their peers pushing them each and every day to raise their bar on their game They engage in competitive ladder matches as well as practice matches, during which players acquire invaluable experience and are mentored by the staff in all the nuances of the game Coaches - The student-athletes work with experienced full-time core group of coaches every day of the week The coaches also travel to tournaments to observe the players in a competition environment and advise them on strategies to employ The coaches also send quarterly progress reports to parents or guardians Player Accountability - Student-athletes have every opportunity to take their games to the next level, but it comes down to each child’s individual commitment and willingness to work through adversity and to set goals Starting with their performance profile, students must constantly set goals for themselves and focus on the end result and hard work Additional tools such as match evaluations from our staff members and mental skill training will help our students achieve the goals of a lifetime SADDLEBROOK GOLF ACADEMY Saddlebrook Prep golf students take part in a high-performance program giving them the opportunity to develop their total game including full swing and short-game techniques, golf course management, competition, physical fitness and mental coaching Training - Instructors work with the student athletes to develop individual plans for each of them Coaches work with their group oncourse on a regular basis to work on competitive strategy and students have monthly seminars with our sports psychologist to sharpen their metal skills and strategies Student athletes work with the same coach every day during each quarter giving the coach the ability to track student progress and focus on improving all aspects of their playing ability and consistency Player Accountability - Student athletes have a great opportunity to take the game to the next level and are strongly encouraged take responsibility for achieving their full potential Starting with a performance evaluation, students must constantly set goals for themselves and focus on achieving those goals Additional tools such as pre and post tournament evaluations and mental skills training will help players become tougher competitors Player Analysis - Players at Saddlebrook Prep have the opportunity to compete on a daily basis with their peers Playing golf with players of similar age and ability level on a regular basis pushes them toward constant and consistent improvement Gaining as much competitive experience as possible promotes the will and courage to perform at the highest level and helps players overcome obstacles that held them back in the past Skills testing and statistical data from their practice and competitive rounds are completed on a regular basis and allows coaches and players to concretely identify strengths and weaknesses to set measureable goals towards improvement FITNESS AND CONDITIONING Fitness Training The performance training program is committed to developing the complete athlete We use a systematic approach to training that integrates the following components: • • • • Movement - develop sport specific linear and multi-directional speed Strength - develop entire spectrum of sport specific strength Power - improve athlete’s ability to produce explosive movements Conditioning - develop proper energy systems to maximize sport specific workloads • Nutrition - guidelines to develop performance nutrition eating habits • Suppleness - apply proper flexibility components to maximize movement efficiency • Pre-habilitation - address postural imbalances to decrease injury potential • Regeneration - establish methods to enhance recovery from training components By engaging athletes in the educational component of training, we will provide them with a foundation for success in tennis Periodic evaluations will be administered to ensure that the desired goals become realized For athletes desiring additional performance training, we offer elite training packages with the performance coaches These packages are designed to meet the individual needs of each athlete They can also utilize our fully equipped fitness center after program hours Tennis Mental Conditioning Mental preparedness is one of the most important aspects of any sport Tennis specifically, is a sport that demands players to be consistent, accurate, resilient, and perseverant As an individual sport, there is no team to look to and a player must rely on their own assets and mental toughness to fight through every point in every match At Saddlebrook Tennis we believe that in order to develop the complete player there must be a focus on mental conditioning Fitness and technique alone are not enough to win consistently, a player must work to strengthen their emotional stability and have the ability to maintain, no matter what the circumstances, a confident and winning attitude Saddlebrook Tennis works with various professionals in the field of Sports Psychology These professionals work with the athletes as well as the coaches to provide a thorough understanding of the importance of mental conditioning Some of the issues addressed with the athletes are:: • Dealing with obstacles (injury, weaknesses in your game, having an ‘off’ day) • Understanding that ‘Image is Everything’ • Developing a game plan on and off court • Goal Setting (long and short-term) • Exploiting your opponents weaknesses • Parenting a Junior Tennis Player Golf Mental Conditioning Saddlebrook Golf Academy offers each student an opportunity for both group and individual mental training This is an integral part of our holistic golf training program Dr Dan Vosgerichian works individually with each student throughout the mental training process.  Every month the student-athletes, their golf coaches and Doctor Dan work together to maintain and evaluate individualized programs Because each player has different goals and objectives their mental strategies are unique to their personality and learning style Dr Dan coaches each player on mental toughness topics that are essential to optimizing their performance Each semester there are different topics including: • Pre- and Post-Shot Routine • Self-Talk and Thought Management • Relaxation and Energizing Strategies • Goal-Setting and Decision Making  Saddlebrook Mental coaching takes place in a variety of locations Dr Dan can work dynamically on our seventeen acre practice facility or one of the two beautiful golf courses and in the golf studio.  Topics are presented in an engaging and dynamic fashion to help bring mental principles to real life situations This allows our student- athletes to transition their skills from practice to their weekly individual matches and
