SUMMER PROGRAMS AND STUDY ABROAD If you are interested in enrolling in a summer program through another law school, please complete the following steps: You must obtain pre-approval from the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dean Cianciarulo Send an email to cianciar@chapman.edu with a link to the website for the program that you are interested in Include in your email the list of courses, course descriptions, and amount of units you intend to enroll in Request a Letter of Good Standing from the Law Registrar’s Office Your request must be in writing and include the mailing address for the other institution The Good Standing request form is available on the Law Registrar's website and in the Law Registrar’s Office Please drop off the completed form at the Law Registrar’s Office or scan and email your form to lawregistrar@chapman.edu You must be sure to take all summer coursework for a letter or numeric grade only Although the summer program may offer this option, DO NOT elect to take the course for a grade of Pass/No Pass (P/NP) or the course credit will not be transferred to your Chapman transcript Upon completion of the summer program and after grades have been posted, request an official copy of your transcript to be sent directly to: Chapman University Dale E Fowler School of Law Office of the Law Registrar One University Drive Orange, CA 92866 For your own records, you may want to request a second copy of your transcript to be sent directly to you The Law Registrar’s Office cannot provide students with copies of any transcripts from other institutions If you are interested in enrolling in a Chapman Law-sponsored program through SAMFORD UNIVERSITY: Programs co-sponsored by Chapman Law through SAMFORD UNIVERSITY not require preapproval from Dean Bogart Students are still required to request a Letter of Good Standing to send to Samford University Only Chapman co-sponsored programs through Samford University will reflect the actual numerical grade earned on the Chapman transcript For more information on Chapman-sponsored study abroad, please visit the following webpage: http://www.chapman.edu/law/academic-programs/study-abroad/index.aspx CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY DALE E FOWLER SCHOOL OF LAW OFFICE OF THE LAW REGISTRAR • ONE UNIVERSITY DRIVE • ORANGE, CA 92866 PHONE 714-628-2522 • FAX 714-628-3411 • LAWREGISTRAR@CHAPMAN.EDU Please keep the following degree requirement information in mind when planning your participation in a summer program:  Upon receiving the official transcript and verifying sufficient grades were earned, all acceptable transfer work will be posted on the Chapman Law transcript as Pass/No Pass credit o The only two exceptions are co-sponsored Chapman Law programs through SAMFORD UNIVERSITY and the Israel Summer Abroad Program through WHITTIER LAW SCHOOL, which will reflect the actual numerical grade earned on the Chapman Law transcript  Summer transfer credit counts toward a student's total allowed P/NP units; Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.6 or higher at the conclusion of the first year of study are allowed to complete a total of 16 P/NP units and students with a cumulative GPA below 2.6 at the conclusion of the first year of study are allowed to complete a total of P/NP units  Students should be aware of the Residency Credit rules regarding summer course work: o A student must enroll in a minimum of units to earn any Residency Credit during a summer term, and the maximum amount of Residency Credit that a student may earn in a summer term is 0.5 Residency Credits (6 units of course work) The Residency Credit table is shown below for your review CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY DALE E FOWLER SCHOOL OF LAW OFFICE OF THE LAW REGISTRAR • ONE UNIVERSITY DRIVE • ORANGE, CA 92866 PHONE 714-628-2522 • FAX 714-628-3411 • LAWREGISTRAR@CHAPMAN.EDU
