Announcing Multiplicities: A Diversity Equity & Inclusion Installation, Northampton Community College 2021-2022 Academic Year College Center Lobby Contact: rgorchov@northampton.edu or tshillea@northampton.edu for more information Northampton Community College is pleased to announce Multiplicities: A Diversity Equity & Inclusion exhibition currently installed in the lobby of College Center on our Bethlehem campus This installation features works by six artists, printed as high-quality digital reproductions All works included in the exhibition embody different approaches to considerations surrounding the range of human differences and multicultural perspectives The installation will run for the 2021-2022 academic year About the artists: Devyn Briggs Devyn Leonor Briggs was raised in Bethlehem, PA and studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD, graduating with a BFA in 2013 and MPS in Business of Art and Design in 2014 She has maintained a studio at the Banana Factory since 2014, teaching art to all ages at the Banana Factory, Allentown Art Museum, and Bethlehem Area School District Devyn has served in consulting roles at the Petrucci Family Foundation Collection of African American Art and Raven Fine Art Editions, and is currently a Career Readiness Specialist and adjunct faculty member at Northampton Community College Since opening her studio, she has been dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Lehigh Valley arts community and has served on a number of committees including the Southside Arts District Design Committee, the African American Business Leaders Council Events Committee, the Guild of Creative Citizens Advisory Board, CACLV’s Color Outside the Lines Quality of Life Committee, and Juneteenth Lehigh Valley devynleonorbriggs.com Curlee Holton A highly regarded professor, painter and master printmaker, Curlee Raven Holton has exhibited his work throughout the world His paintings, drawings, and prints are held by major museums and collections in the U.S and abroad His most recent solo exhibition, Journey: The Artistry of Curlee Raven Holton, was held at the University of Maryland University College Holton earned his MFA from Kent State University with a concentration in printmaking and his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Fine Arts in drawing and painting He served as the David M and Linda Roth Professor of Art at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa where he taught printmaking and African American art history Holton founded the Experimental Printmaking Institute with a vision to provide artists with the time, space, materials, and professional support to create new work This vision was realized with more than 200 works produced In 2014 he was appointed executive director of the David C Driskell Center for the Study of the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora at University of Maryland, College Park Holton was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Art and Philosophy from the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts (IDSVA) at the 2018 commencement in New York City In 2015 he received the Anyone Can Fly Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award." ravenfinearteditions.com Glenn Koehler Glenn Koehler is a photographer and writer based in Allentown, Pennsylvania His work spans photojournalism during fires and natural disasters, to fine art displayed in galleries and museums His photography has been featured in national publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and the Associated Press His work chronicling the last days of Martin Tower, Bethlehem Steel’s former headquarters, drew considerable local attention and was featured on Petapixel, one of the internet’s foremost photography publications http://glennkoehler.com Joni Oye Joni Oye Benintende recently retired from East Stroudsburg University of PA where she taught ceramics and art for 25 years Her work has been shown in group and one person exhibitions in the U.S and Japan She received a BFA from Washington University in St Louis and an MFA from Tama Fine Arts University in Tokyo, Japan www.jmayaoye.com Adrianna Rivera Adrianna Rivera an Asian-American born in Nanchang, China and raise in Easton, Pennsylvania From a young age, she showed interest in art and often drew inspiration from cartoons and other media Later in life, she would later implement her experience with her Chinese culture and Puerto-Rican family into her artworks- experimenting with oil, sculpture and digital platforms A 2021 Michigan (2001) He’s showed nationally and received a Pennsylvania Project Stream grant for works exhibited in the Dreadnaught show at ArtsQuest SteelStacks in (2018) He’s been reviewed in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, and The Detroit Free Press Smith taught at the University of Michigan, Princeton, and Maryland Institute College of Art and most recently at
