NSSC 2021 - Virtual Speed Selling Competition March 26th (Friday) and March 27th (Saturday) Instructions for Competitors All participants (role play competitors and alternates) will create and deliver a 60-second pitch to business executives during the Career Fair in the CareerEco platform Individual pitches should highlight personal achievements and abilities in a creative and memorable way and answer one of the following questions - “Why am I the right person for the job?” or “Tell me about yourselves.” The Speed-Selling Final Round will take place live in front of all virtual guests after the Role-Play Final Round (on 27th March, Saturday) with the top 10 candidates Each student will be randomly assigned to deliver their pitch to approximately 4-5 sponsors The overall speed-selling score for each student will be an average of the 4-5 scores they receive from their assigned sponsors The overall speed-selling university team score will be the average scores for all students competing from that particular university For example, if a student delivers pitches and received scores of 85, 90, 100, 90, and 80 then their overall individual score would be 85+90+100+90+80 = 445 / = 89 All scores are important, therefore please take a look at the speed-selling rubric to learn how the pitches will be scored and put your best foot forward with each sponsor To ensure pitches are evenly spaced throughout the day, students will be assigned a period of time when they should deliver their pitch to a particular sponsors room during the following time periods: Morning (8:00 am- 11:00 am), Early Afternoon (11:00 am – 2:00 pm), and Late Afternoon (2:00 pm – 4:00 pm) Students can show up to the dedicated speed-selling room for a specific sponsor at any time during the time period they were assigned Note: Due to the virtual environment of this event, all competitors will need to follow these instructions carefully: Step 1: Please register at https://www.careereco.com/Events/NSSC as a student competitor - Without this mandatory step, students will not be able to take part in the Speed-Selling competition Students should register on CareerEco by 19th March Step 2: On the day of the competition, log into the https://www.careereco.com/Events/NSSC and click on “Join chat” Step 3: After you enter the NSSC Career Fair event you must find the sponsor(s) you have been assigned Each sponsor has two rooms assigned to them, a Main room and a Speed-Selling room (see example below) Page of If you want to meet the company to discuss job prospects or internship opportunities, then enter the Main room (room #1 in this example) If you are ready to make your speed-selling pitch and it is your assigned time period, then enter the Speed-Selling Room (room #2 in this example) You will see a statement that says “Queue Enabled Room” When you enter the room, you will be put in a virtual queue If there is a student who is making the pitch before you, you might have to wait a few minutes Please wait patiently for the student ahead of you to finish Once it is your turn, the sponsor representative will send you a message asking you to join the 1-on-1 chat You will have 45 seconds to accept that chat request If you don’t accept in 45 seconds, you will be placed at the end of the queue To learn more about how the queue feature in Careereco.com Please check out this tutorial Queue Tutorial - Candidates Once you join the chat, turn on your video After identifying yourself and exchanging pleasantries, you can make your pitch when the sponsor representative is ready After your pitch is complete (60 seconds), we suggest you exit the Speed-Selling room and join the Main company room (room #1 in the example) to chat with the sponsor representative about career opportunities Repeat step to complete your remaining pitches during your assigned time periods We suggest that students attempt to meet at least companies other than their allocated SpeedSelling companies during the Career Fair event If you are competing in the role-play rounds, you should have plenty of time before and after your round Most importantly, have fun!
