The Royal Conservatoire (KC) and the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) together form the University of the Arts The Hague The University of the Arts offers a wide range of art courses at HBO bachelor and master level In addition, the University of the Arts provides preparatory courses for young pupils in combination with primary and secondary education Minor programmes, master's programmes and doctoral trajectories are offered in collaboration with Leiden University The School for Young Talent, an interfaculty of the University of the Arts The Hague, is a vibrant institution that provides education in music, dance and visual arts for pupils between the ages of and 18 The school also provides primary and secondary education for pupils from group of primary school Pupils can combine an arts education with a customised version of the regular curriculum The interfaculty is managed by a director, who is also the school’s principal He is assisted by three heads of department The current Head of Music will be leaving shortly, after a relatively brief period of two years This situation prompted a pause for reflection on the organisation and the policy of the interfaculty as a whole This period of reflection highlighted a number of issues, which call for an external perspective and a robust response The assignment covers the interfaculty as a whole, but with a focus on the domain of music Assignment The School for Young Talent faces a number of challenges in the coming years, including further enhancing the artistic quality and improving the transition to the degree programme and the link with the overarching policy themes of the University of the Arts We are therefore looking at short notice for a Consultant (0,8 – 1,0 fte) The consultant will focus on the following tasks: - analyse the current state of affairs in the organisation; - if necessary, make a proposal for streamlining the organisational structure; - if necessary, make a proposal for redefining the profile of the School for Young Talent and for the communication about the new profile (website); - formulate and document various (abridged) study paths to the degree programme in music, in consultation with the Royal Conservatoire’s Exam Committee, Education Service Centre and heads of department; - survey the requirements of the management and music teachers with respect to the professionalisation of teachers in the context of the envisaged quality improvements, and make specific proposals; - further develop the artistic-pedagogical vision; - draft a strategic policy plan for the interfaculty The tasks of the Head of Music will be performed by the team of the interfaculty during the term of the consultant’s assignment Your profile We are looking for an experienced consultant with excellent communication skills (in English and/or Dutch), who is solution-driven and is prepared to work closely with the management and the team of the interfaculty Given the nature of the assignment, the consultant should have a good knowledge of – and preferably a background in – (pre-) professional music education What we offer The appointment is initially for the period from March to June 2021, with a possible extension after the summer holidays until the end of the calendar year Payment is made on a reimbursement basis, but a temporary appointment is also possible (cao-hbo scale 13) The consultant will report to the management of the Royal Conservatoire The assignment will be carried out in consultation with the director of the interfaculty and the coordinator of the music programme Information and application Information about the Interfaculty School for Young Talent and our programme Young KC Music can be found on our website www.koncon.nl For further information about the position, please contact Mr Henk van der Meulen, principal of the Royal Conservatoire, at h.vandermeulen@koncon.nl Applications with CV and motivation letter – in either English or Dutch - can be addressed to Mr Van der Meulen, until Friday 12 February 2021 latest, at werving@koncon.nl After the deadline has passed, we will make a selection from the candidates The first round of interviews shall take place on Friday 19 February 2021 We strive for a diverse and inclusive organization and find it important that this subject is given space in our dialogue That is why we are curious about who you are!
