NSCC CLASS OF 2018 GRADUATE SURVEY Office of Planning, Research and Resources October 1, 2019 Introduction North Shore Community College’s Class of 2018 was comprised of 1,077 students who earned 1,098 credentials The entire class was surveyed ten months after graduation to ascertain their overall satisfaction with their program of study and employment and college transfer process Like most institutions, NSCC struggles to motivate graduates to respond to follow up surveys, which are sent electronically to both NSCC email and last known personal email addresses An automated phone message was sent to each graduate as well To provide a more robust view of the outcomes of the Class of 2018, this report describes both selfreported outcomes and results derived from other sources Specifically, this report includes data obtained by the National Clearinghouse and HEP Data, an analytics firm that accesses LinkedIn profile information Data Source Descriptions 2018 Graduate Follow-up Survey Results An online survey was emailed to each member of the graduating class Several follow up reminders were sent to graduates who had not yet responded Unlike previous years, this survey was completely separate from any program-specific graduate surveys Graduate Transfer Report A National Student Clearinghouse response report listing the colleges and universities to which graduates transferred, including the type of institution: 2-year or 4-year, public or private Graduate Demographics Report A report comprised of 2018 graduates including demographic data such as race/ethnicity and gender, as well as other elements, such as city, program, and ESL status The graduate demographic report contains one record per graduate Within that record, credentials are ranked by degree first, followed by 2-year certificate, followed by 1-year certificate HEP Data Match File A response file from HEP Data, an organization that matches graduates to LinkedIn analytics HEP matched NSCC data to its database and returned some additional employment data on NSCC graduates Class Profile A total of 1,098 credentials (degrees and certificates) were awarded to the Class of 2018 There were 1,077 distinct graduates in the class 19 students received two awards, while student earned three awards The preponderance of certificates were awarded to female graduates, while degrees awarded more closely mirrored the split between male and female enrollees Two third of both degrees and certificates were awarded to white students, while one third were awarded to minority students Slightly more than half of all awards to minority students went to Hispanic/Latino students Graduates Male Female Total Count % 386 35.8 691 64.2 1,077 100.0 Race Count % American Indian / Alaska Native 0.2 Asian 43 4.0 Black or African American 80 7.4 Cape Verdean 0.3 Hispanic or Latino 220 20.4 Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander 0.3 Non Resident Alien 0.1 Two or More 27 2.5 Unknown 18 1.7 White 680 63.1 Total 1,077 100.0 Awards Award Type Count % Associate in Applied Science 50 4.6 Associate in Arts 444 40.4 Associate in Science 427 38.9 Certificate (
