2 Risk & Compliance Conference UAB National Alumni Society House 1301 10th Avenue South, Birmingham PRESENTERS T.J Brecciaroli Dean of Students, UAH T.J Brecciaroli was appointed Dean of Students at UAH in 2016 after serving as Assistant and Interim Dean of Students since 2013 His prior appointments include Director of Residence Life at Saint Francis University and Huntingdon College, and Associate Dean of Students at Carson-Newman College T.J is a member of the State Board of Directors for NASPA, President of the Board for Thrive Alabama, and a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers He received his B.A from Huntingdon College, M.S from Indiana University, and is a doctoral student at Jacksonville State Alex Burton Area Vice President/Southeast Higher Education Regional Director Arthur J Gallagher & Company Alex Burton has been involved in the insurance industry since 2008 and specializes in the management and implementation of public entity pools, alternative risk, and first dollar programs for scholastic and higher education clients across the United States His responsibilities include brokerage services, direction of business development efforts, and delivery throughout risk management life cycles In February, Alex was named a “2017 Power Broker” for the Education Sector by Risk & Insurance Magazine Alex has a B.S from Mississippi State University Dr Jennifer Greer Associate Provost for Administration, UA Professor, Journalism, UA Before her appointment as UA Associate Provost for Administration, Dr Jennifer Greer was interim dean of the College of Communication & Information Sciences and chair of the Department of Journalism She has held academic and administrative posts for nearly 20 years at the University of Nevada and at UA In her current role, she works with compliance issues including Title IX, disability services, equal opportunity, personnel matters, and student and employee training A former newspaper journalist, Dr Greer earned two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Missouri, an M.A from the University of Kansas, and a Ph.D from the University of Florida Chris Lueders Area Senior Vice President Arthur J Gallagher & Company Chris Lueders began her career at Gallagher in 1980, and her focus for the last 20 years has been higher education and public and nonprofit entities Chris holds a B.A from Western Illinois University She is the lead account executive for the UA System Office’s insurance and risk management program with Gallagher Chris also works with other higher education institutions including Auburn University, Cornell University, and the Rochester Institute of Technology John McLaughlin Managing Director/Higher Education Practice Leader Arthur J Gallagher & Company As managing director of Gallagher’s higher education practice, John McLaughlin directs growth and innovation efforts on a national level and works with Gallagher’s largest and most complex higher education clients With more than 35 years of insurance experience, John develops partnerships with higher education associations, fosters relationships with insurance companies that serve higher education, leads quality control initiatives for the practice, and provides educational, risk management and marketing support to Gallagher branches John received his B.A from Southern Illinois University Eric Seaborg Risk Management Consultant United Educators Eric Seaborg works directly with colleges, universities, and K–12 schools across the nation to advance their ability to manage risks Eric has more than 26 years of management experience with a diverse representation of educational institutions, and has held numerous oversight positions in such operational areas as human resources, risk management, auxiliary services, and office services Eric teaches at Towson University, speaks and writes regularly on the topics of education administration and risk management, and also presents on team building, organizational planning, and professional development He holds B.S and M.A degrees from Towson University Chad Tindol Vice Chancellor for Risk & Compliance, Special Assistant to the Chancellor, and Deputy General Counsel, UA System Chad Tindol first joined the UA System in 2006 His current duties include coordinating risk management and compliance functions for the System;
