SCHOLARSHIPS – UW-MANITOWOC Most of the following scholarships are awarded annually to UW-Manitowoc students Some are for study at UW-Manitowoc; others for study elsewhere Most require a 3.0 GPA A completed application form (attached) and a short autobiography is required Some of the scholarships require specific information so be sure to read all scholarship requirements NOTE: If you are awarded a scholarship, your attendance at the Awards Convocation Ceremony is strongly encouraged Representatives from the awarding organization take the time to honor you by presenting the scholarships at the ceremony so please show your appreciation by attending (Date TBD) DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION TO THE OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS IS MARCH Recipients and/or recommendations for these scholarships are selected by the UW-Manitowoc Academic Actions and Awards Committee SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTIONS UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN–MADISON ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP Open to students who will attend UW-Madison in Fall Based primarily on academic performance 3.0 GPA MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP Given to a full-time student transferring to Marquette 3.25 cumulative GPA Can apply for either fall term (April deadline) or spring term (November deadline) Recommendation required (see the Student Services Office for specifics) HISTORICAL CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT ASSOCIATION ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP Given to a new or enrolled full-time student at UW-Manitowoc who intends to pursue a degree in Engineering 3.0 GPA Must be enrolled in either a science (preferably physics) or math course each semester while in attendance at UW-Manitowoc Renewable depending on availability Amount to be decided by the Foundation of UW-Manitowoc TERESA SKREPENSKI SCHOLARSHIP Given to a student enrolled full time at UW-Manitowoc 3.0 GPA Based primarily on academic excellence This scholarship is paid in two installments – one-half in Fall and the other half in Spring If you not attend both semesters, you will not be entitled for the semester that you not attend SCHWARTZ ART SCHOLARSHIP ($500) Given to a continuing students with a 3.0 GPA Portfolio of work with a recommendation from our art faculty or instructional staff along with an autobiographical essay PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP (Amount to be determined by UW-Manitowoc Chapter) Given to a continuing student at UW-Manitowoc Full-time 3.3 GPA Twenty -four (24) earned credits at the end of spring term Include in your autobiography, information on your community involvement and awards/achievements NOON ROTARY CLUB OF MANITOWOC SCHOLARSHIP Given to a student in good standing who will be, or is now, enrolled in an accredited Manitowoc County post high school education program The student must demonstrate commitment to the Rotary tenets of service, have high ethical standards, and advancement of understanding, good will and peace 3.0 GPA Include in your autobiography information on extra-curricular activities, out-of-school activities, work experience, how you plan to finance your education, personal activities and commitments SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB OF MANITOWOC SCHOLARSHIP Given to a student enrolled either full-time or part-time at UW -Manitowoc, Silver Lake College or Lakeshore Technical Institute 3.0 GPA Written essay of 500 words (autobiography will suffice) Must be a continuing UW Manitowoc student for the following semester HATRACK STORY TELLERS SCHOLARSHIP Given to a student majoring in Communication arts, journalism, broadcasting, theater etc 3.25 GPA Written essay explaining their goals and need for this scholarship which should be submitted with Their application along with a faculty recommendation Eligibility: Continuing student or transferring to another UW campus UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-MANITOWOC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Given to returning students (30 or more credits at end of the spring term) 3.0 GPA Based primarily on academic excellence These scholarships are paid in two installments – one-half in Fall and the other half in Spring If you not attend both semesters, you will not be entitled to the scholarship for the semester that you not attend UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-GREEN BAY LEADERSHIP & ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP Given to a UW-Manitowoc student transferring to UW-Green Bay Full-time Potential leadership ability UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN -OSHKOSH SCHOLARSHIP Given to two UW-Manitowoc students transferring to UW-Oshkosh 3.3 cumulative GPA Must be accepted at UW-Oshkosh EUGENE WILDA/LEROY PURCHATZKE MEMORIAL AWARD Given to a sophomore majoring in science, mathematics, physics, biology or engineering Selected by respective departments H.P & M.L HOOPER FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Applicants must be a continuing current student at UW-Manitowoc, 22 years of age or older, have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA from UW-Manitowoc courses, have a financial need based on the submitted FAFSA, and be enrolled in UW-Manitowoc courses Provide a personal statement explaining your goals, future educational/career plans, and challenges This should be written in proper English and presented as neatly as possible It should be typed on ½” x 11” bond paper, double spaced, with 1” margins If you are interested in applying for one of the Women’s Studies scholarships or for the Kathleen Herzog-Bundy Good Citizenship scholarship, please include information in your personal statement indicating your qualifications/accomplishments in support of your application for these scholarships Adam Steel Family Scholarship Fund of Lakeshore Community Foundation for Nursing, Health Care, or Medical Technology Applicants must have completed a minimum of one (1) semester at UW-Manitowoc and have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 Applicants must also be active in a nursing, health care, or medical technology program Applicants must reside in Manitowoc County CATHERINE HELGELAND MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Applicants must be a continuing student at UW-Manitowoc that has completed at least two courses in the department with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 Applicants must be planning to major in Geography, Geology, or a related field If there is not a qualifying applicant, scholarship may be given to a qualifying transferring student
