FIFTH ANNUAL PACE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION Pace University School of Law is the organizer and host of the annual National Environmental Moot Court Competition This environmental competition enables law students to experience environmental litigation through oral and written advocacy in appellate court litigation This competition is also valuable to competitors, observers, faculty and judges because it provides an opportunity to explore advanced questions of environmental law involving issues of first impression The problem, drafted by the Environmental Law Institute and Pace University faculty, involves timely issues of national importance to the practice of environmental law The competition features three competing teams in each round which represent three characteristic interests generally found in environmental litigation: economic parties, environmental parties and the government The competition has grown since its inception in 1988, therefore, it is presently limited to one team per school and 60 schools can participate each year To date, over one third of the law schools in the United States and a few from Canada have competed This is the only environmental moot court competition in the United States and the largest moot court competition held entirely at one location 752 PACE ENVIRONMENTAL LAW REVIEW [Vol 10 ENVIRONMENTAL MOOT COURT BOARD
