PCACAC & Richmond Area Public Schools College Admissions Workshop Faculty Meadowbrook High School Richmond, VA Anthony Ambrogi has worked in college admissions at Randolph- Macon College (R-MC) for 14 years, including nine years as Director of Admissions and Enrollment Research Prior to coming to R-MC, Anthony worked at his alma mater, Benedictine High School, as Director of Admissions, History teacher, and College Counselor He has been active in PCACAC as the newly elected President-Elect, Chair of the Current Trends/Future Issues Committee, and has served on the Professional Development and Conference Planning committees He is a native of Richmond, VA, where he still lives with his wife, two kids, and a dog As a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and New Orleans Saints, he learned at an early age how to persevere through disappointment in the hope that things will be better someday Anthony earned a BA from Virginia Tech and an MBA and MA from the University of Richmond Cynthia Burns Coogan is a member of the counseling staff at James Madison High School in Fairfax County, Virginia where she completed the leadership cohort with a project that focused on a comprehensive k-12 college counseling program She has a BA and MA from Georgetown University, a Master’s certification in teaching English from The George Washington University, and a Master’s in Counseling from Marymount University She previously participated in admissions work while Academic Counselor in the School of Languages and Linguistics at Georgetown University While working at the Council on Library and Information Resources, Cynthia’s constituents were all the major research universities and liberal arts colleges in the United States and elsewhere She coaches college essay writing as principal of Capital Creative Consulting Robyn A Lady serves as the Director of Student Services (DSS) at Chantilly High School in Fairfax County, VA, where she leads a team of 12 counseling professionals in their daily work with students She is currently the Professional Development Chair for PCACAC and is Past- President of the DSS Association in Fairfax County, an organization with members from each of the 26 high schools Previously she worked as a school counselor at three different Fairfax County Schools (George C Marshall, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and McLean High School) Passionate about the college admissions process, Ms Lady works independently as a college consultant with 15-20 seniors each year She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from The College of William & Mary in 1990, a Masters of Education from The University of Virginia in 1992 and a certificate in School Counseling Leadership and Administration from George Mason University in 2002 Jeannine Lalonde, Associate Dean of Admission at the University of Virginia, manages her social media and branding efforts for her office Her blog, “Notes from Peabody,” has provided an in-depth look into the admission process at UVA for ten years Prior to her move to Virginia in 2005, Jeannine was Senior Assistant Director of Admissions at Olin College of Engineering in Needham, MA Jeannine has a Bachelor’s degree in French from Providence College and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the Lynch School of Education at Boston College She has been featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, USA Today, Inside Higher Ed, and Cville Weekly In recent years, she has presented at the NACAC, PCACAC, and Common App conferences Serving Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia PO Box 8308 Charlottesville, Virginia 22906 www.pcacac.org PCACAC & Richmond Area Public Schools College Admissions Workshop Faculty | P a g e Rebekah C LaPlante is the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Virginia Tech (since 2008) where she oversees the Visitor Experience and Processing Unit, coordinates domicile review and serves as a member of senior staff participating in all facets of the recruitment process Rebekah attended Radford University where she completed a B.S in Communication and a M.S in Corporate and Professional Communication before she began working in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Radford University in 2001 She worked in admissions at RU for seven years and coordinated the Blue Ridge Mountain Counselors' Tour during that time She has been an active member of PCACAC over the years, assisting with conference planning efforts and is currently a member of the professional development committee Rebekah enjoys working with school counselors; prospective high school students and their families and helping them navigate the college admissions process Tania Rachkoskie is currently the Director of Outreach with The Common Application Tania brings with her 16 years of college counseling and college admissions experience having worked at The Burlington School (NC), Muhlenberg College, Bucknell University, and Guilford College Ms Rachkoskie attended Muhlenberg College (B.A Psychology) and UNC Greensboro (M.A in Liberal Studies) Most recently, Ms Rachkoskie, completed a Specialized Certificate in College Counseling from the University of California at San Diego Extension and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Michele Webb is the current Educational Specialist, Career Connections in the office of School Counseling and College and Career Readiness within the department of Instructional Services at Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) This role focuses on career and college readiness with the goal of preparing students to become lifelong learners and productive members in a global society Serving as the district administrator for 28 school-based Career Centers, Michele has a passion for developing professionals and programs resulting in student success A native of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, Michele Webb earned an AAS in Business Management from Commonwealth College and went on to Old Dominion University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in Education, Occupational & Technical Studies with an endorsement in Marketing Education She obtained her Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum, & Instruction from George Mason University Michele earned her K-12 Administration & Supervision endorsement after completing an Accelerated Certification Cohort through FCPS and the University of Virginia Her career in education has spanned over 20 years She was an athletic director at a private school;
