PRESS RELEASE CONTACT: Kristie Demers Communications Coordinator 919-829-8009, ext 619 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PREVENT CHILD ABUSE NORTH CAROLINA ANNOUNCES BOARD OFFICERS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2017-2018 RALEIGH, N.C (August 10, 2017) — Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina (PCANC) announces the election of its fiscal year 2017-2018 executive officers: Jesica Averhart, board chair; Jed Hysong, board vice-chair; McLean D Pollock, secretary; and Zeke Bridges, treasurer and operations committee chair Katherine Vail Pope, PCANC’s fiscal year 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 board chair, will serve as immediate past board chair The executive officers will lead a team of 13 statewide volunteer leaders dedicated to child well-being and family strengthening efforts across North Carolina Jesica Averhart is the Executive Director of Leadership Triangle, a non-profit established to educate and develop leaders that elevate the regional thought-leadership and activate change Before taking the helm at Leadership Triangle, she served as the Director of Corporate Partnerships for Capitol Broadcasting – working with the American Underground and American Tobacco Prior to her work with Leadership Triangle and Capitol Broadcasting, Averhart founded a boutique event production company specializing in providing professional event management services for organizations In addition to being active on the PCANC board since 2014, she is also active on the Boards of Youth Villages (Chair), Nasher Friends Board, Carolina Theatre, and YMCA of Durham Averhart lives in Durham and has a fifteen-year-old son Jed Hysong is the Vice President, Finance at Jaggaer in Research Triangle Park He has been actively involved on PCANC’s operations committee since 2012, its board of directors since 2013, and served as board treasurer from 2014-2016 He is a CPA and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) with over 20 years of accounting and finance experience and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the North Carolina Association of CPAs Hysong earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in accounting from North Carolina State University In addition to his service to PCANC, he served on the board for the Healthy Start Foundation from 2010 to 2016, and was the board chair during fiscal year 2015-2016, and has served on the board for the Triangle Chapter of Wrestlers in Business Network as the treasurer since 2014 Hysong lives in Pittsboro with his fiancée Jeanette Ragland, his son Miller, and his daughter Helena McLean D Pollock currently works as a Medical Instructor at Duke University In addition to her work in research and evaluation, Pollock has worked in community mental health, specifically with children exposed to family violence She has been volunteering since high school and has volunteer experience with AmeriCorps NCCC and various organizations related to family’s and women's health Pollock earned a BA in International Studies and PhD in Public Health from UNC-CH and went to Boston University for her MSW and MPH She lives in Raleigh with her husband, six year old son, and four year old daughter Zeke Bridges currently serves as the law school’s assistant dean of administration and as an adjunct faculty member at Campbell Law School in Raleigh, teaching Start Your Own Law Firm class in the fall and a Law Practice Management class in the spring Bridges has been actively involved on PCANC’s external relations committee since 2013 In addition to his service at PCANC, Bridges serves on numerous North Carolina and Wake County bar association committees He is also actively involved in his local community Bridges holds dual B.A.s in political science and criminal justice from the University of Georgia in addition to receiving his Juris Doctor from Campbell Law School in 2003 He lives in Fuquay-Varina with his wife and two daughters Katherine Vail Pope of Raleigh is a dedicated child advocate and community leader She has been actively involved with PCANC since 2009, and served as board vice chair and co-chair of the organization’s Program and Policy Committee in FY 2014-2015, and board chair in FY 2015-2016 and FY 2016-2017 Pope has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Virginia Tech and a M.Ed in counseling from the University of Virginia Her career has spanned positions from counseling to employee relations Pope also serves on the Statewide Advisory Committee for Nurse Family Partnership Before joining PCANC’s Board she served as a volunteer parent aide and HR Committee member with the Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) Center ### Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina is the leading statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect Through collaboration with partners across North Carolina, PCANC works with communities to build safe, stable, nurturing relationships for all children Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina is the North Carolina chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America For more information contact Kristie Demers, Communications Coordinator, at kdemers@preventchildabusenc.org or (919) 829-8009, ext 619 ... safe, stable, nurturing relationships for all children Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina is the North Carolina chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America For more information contact Kristie Demers,...
