The Crop tool in CorelDRAW behaves exactly like an image editor’s crop tool. Objects do not have to be grouped; you just drag a rectangle around the area of your design you want cropped, double-click inside the proposed crop area, and all object areas outside the crop box are deleted. In Figure 11-9 at left you can see two objects: the goal is to leave only the comedy mask and to get rid of the tragedy mask. In the middle the Crop tool is dragged around the desired area, which then is double-clicked. At right you can see two separate objects: the cropped gray background and the cropped mask. This is a powerful and potentially very destructive tool, but fortunately you can work with the proposed crop box before cropping. You can drag a corner crop box handle before cropping to proportionately resize the crop; dragging a middle handle disproportionately resizes the crop area.

Applying Smudge to Shapes Using the Smudge brush, you can alter the outline shapes of open or closed paths by click- dragging across the outline path, in either an outward direction (to add a bulge) or an inward direction (to create a pucker). As you drag, the path is altered according to your drag action and to the shape settings of the Smudge brush cursor. Figure 11-10 shows a creative example of using the Smudge brush: the cartoon head has long, spiky hair now; the editing took less than 5 seconds, and the resulting path can be edited for refining by using the Shape tool and other CorelDRAW features.

lets you read and adjust that behavior of a frame after the page has loaded. For example, during some part of the interaction with a user on a page, you may allow the user to modify the frame size manually while in a certain mode. Or you may grant the user one chance to resize the frame. When the onResize event handler fires, a script sets the noResize property of the FRAME element to false . If you turn off resizing for a frame, all edges of the frame become non-resizable, regardless of the noResize value setting of adjacent frames. Turning off resizability has no effect on the ability of scripts to alter the sizes of frames via the FRAMESET element object’s cols or rows properties.

technology that has attracted increased interest 116 among scientists and governmental officials in the 117 last decade, due to several promising laboratory 118 and pilot-scale studies and experiments. This 119 method aims to remove heavy metal contami- 120 nants from low permeability contaminated soils 121 under the influence of an applied direct current. 122 However, regardless of promising results, this 123 method has its own drawbacks. First of all, the 124 whole electrokinetic remediation process is highly 125 dependant on acidic conditions during the appli- 126 cation, which favours the release of the heavy 127 metal contaminants into the solution phase. How- 128 ever, achieving these acidic conditions might be 129 difficult when the soil buffering capacity is high. 130 In addition, acidification of soils may not be an 131 environmentally acceptable method. Second, the 132 remediation process is a very time-consuming ap- 133 plication; the overall application time may vary 134 from several days to even a few years. There are 135 some other limitations of the proposed technique 136 that need to be overcome: i.e. the solubility of the 137 contaminant and its desorption from the soil ma- 138 trix; low target ion concentration and high non- 139 target ion concentration; requirement of a con- 140 ducting pore fluid to mobilise contaminants; and 141 heterogeneity or anomalies found at sites, such as 142 large quantities of iron or iron oxides, large rocks 143

A CN C is said a star CN if it can find a root node R in C such that all the other nodes { R 1 , R 2 , ..., R s } in C are connected to R . A two step approach is used to evaluate a star CN . In the first step, it finds the tuple frequency for all tuples in the database that contain keywords in MTJNT (C). In the second step, it counts the term frequencies using the tuple frequencies calculated in the first step. A non-star CN C can be made as a star CN by joining some tuples and considering the joint relation as a single node in the CN . For example, CN C = A { Michelle } 1 W 1 P 1 C 1 P { XML } is not a star CN , we can make it as a star CN by combining R = C 1 P { XML } as a single node R to obtain C = A { Michelle } 1 W 1 R which becomes a star CN .

Back in the garden, at the far table to the right. I’m not sure who started it, but whoever had the most exhausting day would lay a hand in the center of the table and say, “Olly-olly-oxen-free.” The other two would lay their hands on top and lean in. Then we’d listen, sipping drinks with our free hands. Jessica and I always drank hot chocolate. Over time, Alex made his way through the entire menu.

NEWTON’S LAWS OF MOTION Unbalanced forces are the cause of motion. This can be seen by taking a walk and watching any objects that are not moving. A stone on the ground, a flowerpot on a window ledge, or a hat on someone’s head all remain where they rest unless something happens. What exactly must happen? Sir Isaac Newton applied his attention to that same question almost 400 years ago. The result was Newton’s Laws of Motion. The first Law of Motion as expressed by Sir Isaac has come to be known as the Law of Inertia.

Studying the characteristics of heavy rainfall in the central coastal provinces of Vietnam (Quang Binh case study)

Studying the characteristics of heavy rainfall in the central coastal provinces of Vietnam (Quang Binh case study)

This paper explores the maximum amount of rainfall in the Central coastal provinces of Vietnam (Quang Binh case study) for return periods of 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, 50 years, and 100 years, which correspond to frequencies of 20%, 10%, 5%, 2%, and 1%, respectively. The results show that at a frequency of 20%, the maximum intensity of rain during a heavy rain spell can range from 636.6 to 696.0 mm, while the maximum one-day amount received was over 300 mm, which can occur many times in 5 years. At a frequency of 1%, the intensity of rain during a heavy rain spell can range from 1,197.9 to 1,268.3 mm, while the maximum one-day amount ranged from 487.4 to 521.9 mm. However, such values are very rare over the course of 100 years. In addition, in terms of annual rainfall, the spatial distribution of heavy rainfall in coastal areas was significantly smaller than that in mountainous areas. The highest one-day and five-day rainfall have the same pattern of spatial distribution as annual rainfall.

12.3 We use a macro called CACHECLEANBYWAY to create the three procedures that clean, flush, or clean and flush the cache using way and set index addressing. The macro uses constants in the header file cache.h to build a processor register in CP15:C7 register format ( c7f ) for the selected core. The first step is to set the c7f register to zero, which is used as the Rd input value in the MCR instruction to execute the selected operation. The macro then increments the c7f register according to the format in Figure 12.11, once for each written cache line. It increments the set index in the inner loop and the way index in the outer loop. Using these nested loops, it steps through and cleans all the cache lines in all the ways.

An old ridge of stones, rock as much as masonry, ran along the bottom of the Effroc Stone, and being passable at all tides, was used as a passage on board the ships moored to the wall. This wall was, at intervals, furnished with steps. It marked the southern point of Southwark. An embankment at the top allowed the passers-by to rest their elbows on the Effroc Stone, as on the parapet of a quay. Thence they could look down on the Thames; on the other side of the water London dwindled away into fields.

b) Again, one gets exactly the same equations for a converging lens rather than a concave mirror because the equations are identical. The difference lies in the interpretation of the results. For a lens, the outgoing side is not that on which the object lies, unlike for a mirror. So for an object on the left side of the lens, a positive image distance means that the image is on the right of the lens, and a negative image distance means that the image is on the left side of the lens.

COMPUTATIONAL INTELLIGENCE IN AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATIONS BY DANIL PROKHOROV_14 PPT

In addition to the ground models, a background model is also built. Construction starts by randomly sampling pixels in the area above the horizon, assuming that they represent non-traversable regions. Because this area might only contain sky pixels, we extend the sampling area to 50 pixels below the horizon. The horizon is the line determined by the points where the line of sight of the cameras stops intersecting the ground plane. Once the algorithm is running, the algorithm randomly samples pixels in the current frame that the previous result identified as background. This enables the background regions to expand below the horizon. These samples are used to update the background color model using temporal fusion. Only one background model is constructed since there is no need to distinguish one type of background from another. To enable the vehicle to remember traversable terrain with different color characteristics, multiple ground color models are learned. As new data are processed, each color distribution model is updated with new histograms, changing with time to fit changing conditions. Potential new histograms for representing ground are compared to existing models. If the difference is less than a threshold, the histogram is used to upgrade the best matching ground model. Otherwise, if a maximum number of ground models has not yet been reached, the algorithm enters a period known as learning mode. During learning mode, the algorithm monitors new histograms in an attempt to pick out the histogram that is most different from the existing ground models. This is done to avoid picking color models that contain significant amounts of overlap. In the learning mode, if a histogram is found to be more different than a previous histogram, learning mode is extended. Eventually learning mode will end, and the most different histogram is used to create a new color model.

A voidable contract is a legally enforceable agreement, but it may be treated as never having been binding on a party who was suffering from some legal disability or who was a victim of fraud at the time of its execution. The contract is not void unless or until the party chooses to treat it as such by opposing its enforcement. A voidable contract may be ratified either expressly or impliedly by the party who has the right to avoid it. An express ratification occurs when that party who has become legally competent to act declares that he or she accepts the terms and obligations of the contract. An implied ratification occurs when the party, by his or her conduct, manifests an intent to ratify a contract, such as by performing according to its terms. Ratification of a contract entails the same elements as formation of a new contract. There must be intent and complete knowledge of all material facts and circumstances. Oral ACKNOWLEDGMENT of a contract and a promise to perform constitute sufficient ratification. The party who was legally competent at the time that a voidable contract was signed may not, however, assert its voidable nature to escape the enforcement of its terms.

The application object has application scope, which means that it is available to all JSPs until the JSP engine is shut down. The application object is most often used to access environment information. One of the more common pieces of information accessed by the application object is objects that are stored in the ServletContext. These objects are stored there so that they will be available the whole time the servlet engine is running.

Bioremediation of sludge using Pseudomonas Aeruginosa

For the bioremediation of sludge, samples were collected from different places near Jalandhar city of the Punjab (India). In order to analyze the sludge, the physiochemical parameters like pH, Moisture and heavy metal are determined. The bacterial strain Pseudomonas aeruginosa was screened for the removal of heavy metal like LEAD and COPPER from the industrial sludge. The effect on pH and moisture was determined. Maximum lead removal was noted to be 0.20 by Pseudomonas aeruginosa species from the sludge sample and copper removal was noted to be 0.30 by P. aeruginosa species. The present study depicts that the bacterial species remove heavy metal from sludge and can be used for the industrial waste management and other environmental maintenance.

300 CorelDRAW X5 The Official Guide Boolean Shaping The mathematical term for what is called “shaping” is Boolean operation. It was named after the 19th century mathematician George Boole, who invented a logic system in algebra for describing certain functions in plain English terms, such as “show me A and B together,” where A and B are geometric shapes. Other shaping operations when translated to these logical statements include “and,” “not,” “or,” and so on. The statement “show me A but not B” can describe the function of the CorelDRAW Back Minus Front shaping operation, as another example. This is the basis for the operation CorelDRAW performs when you use one shape as a target and a different one for the source in a shape operation.

Combining objects that normally feature unique properties—such as rectangles, ellipses, polygons, and perfect shapes—permanently converts them to curves. If you intend to output to PostScript, it might not be a good idea to combine paths that overlap each other. Again, it’s one of the limitations of the PostScript page description language—in human terms, a PostScript printer or image-setting device gets “confused” when a single closed path intersects itself; the device doesn’t know which areas to fill and which to leave empty. If you have a design need for a shape that looks like it self-intersects, ensure proper PostScript output by using the Shaping docker or the buttons on the property bar when multiple objects are selected using the Pick tool to create the illusion of a self-intersecting object.

Electrokinetic of soil remediation critical overview

Ž . gradient Pamukcu and Wittle, 1992 . When DC electric fields are applied to con- taminated soil via electrodes placed into the ground, migration of charged ions occurs. Positive ions are attracted to the negatively charged cath- ode, and negative ions move to the positively charged anode. It has been experimentally proved that non-ionic species are transported along with the electroosmosis-induced water flow. The direc- tion and quantity of contaminant movement is influenced by the contaminant concentration, soil type and structure, and the mobility of contami- nant ions, as well as the interfacial chemistry and the conductivity of the soil pore water. Electroki- netic remediation is possible in both saturated and unsaturated soils.

Figure 5. Interaction with the service robot in an anthropic environment In the shown environment, the robot has to avoid the lamps (it has to slow down in order to keep away from objects attached to the ceiling), as well as the person (turning around him/her) and finally the desktop and the table. The obstacles are modelled as spheres: a lamp is a sphere having a small radius, whereas a person is a set of spheres with different radiuses. Notice that these radiuses may take into account cognitive evaluations. As an example, consider the potentially unpredictable be- haviours of children in the scene: in such a case, safety issues suggest to magnify the radiuses for repulsive potential fields. It is possible, in in- telligent environments, to provide radio-frequency identification tags to assign different set of parameters, depending on the skills of interacting people, for robot kinematic and force control. The table has been mod- elled differently: it is characterized by a succession of points (each point represents a corner or the lower point of a foot of the table). The robot is equipped with seven leds, each one placed next to one critical points: when a particular VEE assumes the highest priority, its led lights up. The priority assignment for the nested CLIK of the different VEEs is reported in Fig. 6, where EE stands for the end-effector and WMR for the wheeled-mobile robot.

Objects 8.1 What Are Objects? JavaScript is all about objects. Windows and buttons, forms and images, links and anchors are all objects. Programming languages like Java, C++, and Python that focus on objects are called object-oriented programming (OOP) languages. JavaScript is called an object-based language because it doesn’t technically meet the criteria of the more heavy-duty languages, but it certainly behaves as an object-oriented language. Some people are apprehensive at the thought of tackling this kind of programming, although the mystique is somewhat diminished from what it was back in the last century when the top-down procedural approach to programming was more in vogue. In the real world, you may see a book or a cup or a hat as an object. JavaScript can represent data such as a string or a number as an object, and JavaScript lets you create your own objects. When talking about JavaScript data types in Chapter 3, “The Building Blocks: Data Types, Literals, and Variables,” we discussed two types: primitive and composite. Objects are composite types. They provide a way to organize a collection of data into a single unit. Object-oriented languages, such as C++ and Java, bundle up data and behav- ior and call it an object. So does JavaScript.
