Sai Gon University Vo Thi Sau high school Advisor : Hoang Phuong Lan Internship: Tran Thi Trang Ha Lesson Plan Unit 12 : MUSIC Part A Reading 1.OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: -Enrich their vocabulary by guessing meaning in context -Understand the content of the text and know how important music is -Do the exercises of gap-filling and answering the questions 2.TIME: 45’ 3.TECHNIQUES : 4.LEXICAL ITEMS: emotion, express, integral,solemn,sense, funeral 5.TEACHING AIDS: Textbook, computer, Microsoft PowerPoint, miniboard 6.PROCEDURES Stages Warm up (5’) Before you read (15’) Teacher’s activities - Asks Ss to answer the questions: 1Do you like listening to music? When you listen to it? What kind of music you like? - Leads to the new lesson: Today, we will learn a new lesson “Music” to understand more how important it is in our life Student’s activities -Answer in individuals - Asks Ss to look at the pictures and guess the type of music they are playing - Calls on some Ss to give answers - Asks Ss to work in pairs, discuss and match the type of music with its description.(5’) - Calls some Ss to give answers -Gives feedback - Look at the pictures and guess - Give answers -Listen to the instruction - Work in pairs and match -Give answers Introduces new words: +emotion: (picture) +express: convey a thought or feeling in words or by gestures and conduct.(definition) +integral: important (synonym) +funeral: (picture) +solemn: funny (antonym) +sense: (picture) -Have Ss repeat new words ( individualchoral) -Have Ss “ unscramble words” Moenoitemotion Prexessexpress Gainertlintegral Nalfuerfuneral Monlessolemn Neesssense -Groups that give the correct answer and fastes will have 10 points (Ss say “I know, I know” to have the chance to answer) -Have Ss make sentences with new words -After minutes one member from each groups come to the board and write the sentences -Corrects and gives feedback While you read *Task 1: (15’) -Divides class into groups - Asks Ss to work in groups and find out the main idea of the context (2’) -Calls some groups give answer and explain the reason why - Gives feedback -Gives each groups one miniboard -Asks Ss to read the passage in 1’ get information and prepare for the -Listen and repeat -Rearrange words in correct order -Try to quickly and say “I know, I know” to get the chance to answer -Make sentences -Write on the board -Work in groups -Read the passage silently task -Asks Ss to task and write the answers on the miniboard (2’) - Have Ss exchanged the miniboard -Asks student to stick the miniboard on the board -Corrects and gives feedback *Task -Ask Ss to work in groups and underline key words -Each of groups choose randomly one questions -Gives Ss 1’ to write down the answer on miniboard - Asks student to stick the miniboard on the board - Corrects and gives feedback After you read (10’) -Do task -Exchange answers with other groups -Work in groups -Answer the questions -Asks students to work in pairs ask -Work in pairs and answer questions in 2’ -Perform -Calls some pairs perform in front of class -Corrects and give feedbacks *Homework: -Learn by heart new words -Prepare part B.Speaking Appendix
