Week: 33 Period: 97 The date of preparing: 13/4/2022 The date of teaching: /4/2022 PERIOD 75: UNIT 9: CITIES OF THE WORLD Lesson 7: LOOKING BACK AND PROJECT I OBJECTIVES Knowledge Students will be able to - Review the vocabulary and grammar of Unit - Apply what they have learnt (vocabulary and grammar) into practice through a project 1.1 Vocabulary: Vocabulary related to the topic “cities” 1.2 Grammar: possessive adjectives and possessive pronouns Competences - By the end of the lesson Ss can develop self- control and self- study - The Ss also form communication skills and team cooperation with other members - Ss know how to solve problems in different ways in a creative and thorough way - Ss are expected to join actively in the activities and build up language competences Quality: - Having the serious attitude to studying - Building up the love for learning English - Ss are encouraged to be hard-working and exercises with responsibility II TEACHING AIDS Students: Textbook, workbook and school things Teachers: Lesson plan, Teacher’s book, projector III TEACHING PROCEDURES Class organization/ Warm up * Brainstorming: - Show icons on the board, and divides the class into big groups - Each group will be assigned a name of the following categories: city, weather, people, food - Ask students to brainstorm all adjectives related to city, weather, people, food - The group having the most suitable answers is the winner Anticipated answers: City: peaceful, lively, busy, industrial, cosmopolitan, green, historic, modern, etc Weather: rainy, wet, humid, dry, arid, frigid, foggy, windy, stormy, breezy, windless, calm, etc People: reliable, passionate, generous, kind, ambitious, etc Food: delicious, salty, bitter, creamy, awful, etc New lesson Looking back a Activity 1: Choose the best two options to complete the sentences * Aim - To help Ss revise the adjectives used to describe cities and landmarks * Content - Ss the best two options to complete the sentences * Output - Ss remember some adjectives they have learnt and add more suitable adjectives * Process - Write the four words: city, weather, people, food on the board and elicit from Ss at least three adjectives to describe each word - Give Ss sufficient time to the task - Check Ss’ answers as a class - Encourage students to provide more adjective for each questions (in the Warm-up part and according to their background knowledge) Key: A, B A, C A, C A, B B, C b Activity 2: Write the words in the box under the pictures * Aim - To help Ss revise the nouns for city landmarks * Content - Ss write the words in the box under the pictures * Output - Ss remember the nouns for city landmarks and give correct answers * Process - Ask Ss to read the words in the box first and make sure they remember their meanings Then allow them some time to write the words under the correct pictures - Encourage students to complete the task individually - Student exchange their textbook to discuss the reasons about their choices - Give feedback as a class discussion Key: towers night market river bank palace beach postcard *Grammar T helps Ss to revise the possessive adjectives and possessive pronouns by asking them fill in the gaps in the table below Pronouns Possessive adjectives Possessive pronouns I You He She It We They c Activity 3: Complete the sentences with the correct possessive pronouns in the box * Aim - To help Ss revise the possessive pronouns in context * Content - Ss complete the sentences with the correct possessive pronouns in the box * Output - Ss remember how to use possessive pronouns and can give correct answers * Process - Ask Ss to complete the sentences individually They can share their answers with their partners, but they should record their original answers to guide their self-assessment later - Check their answers as a class Key: yours theirs mine Ours hers d Activity 4: Read the sentences and correct the underlined words * Aim - To help Ss revise the possessive adjectives and possessive pronouns in context * Content - Ss read the sentences and correct the underlined words * Output - Ss know how the possessive adjectives and possessive pronouns are used in context * Process - Ask Ss to work in pairs - Ask Ss to read the sentences carefully and correct the underlined words - Check their answers as a class Key: its our their its ours Project - Ss work in groups of - Choose one city in the world you would like to visit - Find necessary information for your visit Suggestions: •What city is it?
