Richard A Galbraith, MD, PhD Vice President for Research Applies to all NIH institutional training grants submitted for due dates on or after January 25, 2019 Instructions: The content of this letter is to be included in all NIH Institutional Training Grants (T15, T32, T34, T35, T36, T37, T90/R90, TL1, TL4), in the same letter of support that contains information about the applicant institutional commitment to the planned program Content: (i) The University of Vermont and State Agricultural College (UVM) is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for students and employees, and provides many resources that relate to issues of discrimination, harassment, affirmative action, and prevention of discrimination and harassment UVM Policies and Procedures that address this commitment include: • • • • • • Policy V 7.11.2, Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Policy V.7.4.11, Equal Opportunity in Educational Programs and Activities and Non-Harassment Policy V.7.3.11, Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy Statement Policy V 7.12.2, Discrimination and Harassment Policy 7.1.1, Disability Accommodation for Employees and Applicants for Employment Procedural Guidelines for Handling and Resolving Discrimination Complaints (ii) Primarily coordinated by the Office of Affirmative Action (AAEO), UVM has procedures in place to respond appropriately to allegations of discriminatory practices, including any required notifications to the Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights UVM currently employs two full-time AAEO investigators, a full time AAEO Intake and Outreach Specialist, and a full-time AAEO Director UVM also provides a range of support services for students and employees, including confidential counseling services, identity center programming, and victims’ advocacy services (iii) Primarily coordinated by Sponsored Project Administration (SPA), UVM maintains institutional procedures for requesting NIH prior approval which includes change in the status of the Program Director/Principal Investigator (PD/PI) or other senior/key personnel End OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR RESEARCH 330 Waterman Building, 85 South Prospect Street, Burlington, VT 05405 (802)656-2918 • Richard.Galbraith@uvm.edu Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer
